Scoot IS good. Sad we couldn’t get him, but glad we aren’t Charlotte who passed on him. That blows my mind still.

Size wise, he Hawkins reminds me of NAW. Only seen highlights of today, how fair is that comparison?

Different games. NAW is more of a crafty ball handler who can create for others as well as himself. Just can't finish very well and his shot is very inconsistent and streaky. NAW is like a very poor man's version of SGA but without the athleticism his cousin has to make it work.

Hawkins is a mostly off ball guy who is always on the move and gets to his spots with supreme conditioning. While he has some on ball ability, I don't think he'll ever be a ball handler or someone who runs an offense in the half court.

I have seen both scoot and the 6 9 bama guy in sL.

scoot really scoots

but can he shoot?

bama guy will eventually be a more efficient offense but I have the feeling that scoot can take the ball from bama guy in the open court with the game on the line. bama guy fancies himself a ball handler. and he gets down the court fast. not scoot fast but he's 6 9 when he goes up to the hole. good luck being in the right place to do anything about it.

thinking about defense. have you seen Chet? he's a a factor in defense.

Thought Amen Thompson looked like a star. If he develops a shot, he is scary with that combination of size, speed, athleticism, and playmaking ability. Not to mention his defensive potential. He is really the next generation of PGs.

Cam Whitmore has severe tunnel vision. There isn't a shot he doesn't like and he really does ignore his teammates at times. He's going to need to learn how to play the right way.

He seemed really mature out there. Never rushed, always looked in complete control. Amazing vision and picked his spots well to get to the basket. Knew when to shoot, when to pass, etc. Was very impressive. And you’re right.. if he develops a shot, the sky is the limit.

one must find enjoyment in the excellence wherever it may be.
if you let fandom rule you won't enjoy every game.
you can be happy for them. the need to be #1 makes everything else ruined.

Amen looked awesome but you can tell Scoot is on another level. That guy is a stud.

Also, Wemby’s lack of size is going to be a problem this year when he plays the big boys in the NBA.

He'll get bullied a good bit, but he'll still provide good rim protection immediately.

I get Iverson vibes from scoot with more size. Still gonna stick to my guns and say he’s gonna be the best player from this draft. I really really like his game and makeup.

I wonder when Scoot hurt his shoulder. He started 4-4, then shot 1-9. I do wonder If the shoulder played a part.

But I will say. Dude’s obviously an A Plus human and teammate. He understands how to run an offense, change speeds, thread passes, etc.

He’s going to be very good. The jumper will dictate whether he’s All NBA good in 2-3 years or just fringe all star good.

I don't want to crown him, but his potential is truly Derrick Rose/Russell Westbrook offensive-level player if he doesn't develop a consistent shot.

His athleticism and build is uncommon for 19.

Dyson has bulked up a bit and looked like a man amongst boys on defense. Offensively he still missed several layups. But with the new strength I think it’s just a confidence issue at this point.

Hawkins shot looks great even though it wasn’t falling. He’s really small though so there is a lot of concern about his viability on defense.

EJ looked ok. Moved well on defense and made a few plays.

During the broadcast they said Matkovic isn’t coming over this year and it was obvious why. He didn’t look very good and fouled a lot.

Landers Nolley looked solid on both sides of the ball. If he keeps this up he’ll get a 2 way spot.

Everyone else was garbage.

Agreed with this assessment. I hope Dyson builds his confidence during the summer league and preseason. He’s defense is so freaking good. Also, I hope Hawkins shot starts falling and become decent on defense.
