What part of taking back 65 million in shitty contracts do you not understand?
The new owner would have no chance to build a team he wants. He would be straddled with an 8th seed right at the luxury tax line.
We would have 5 mediocre players combing for 50+ million.

I don't like NBA basketball. I don't really care for the sport.
But I came here to say this: as a sports fan, this pisses me off. I hate that our society has so few "franchise players" left. But this is bullshite -- it was a trade that makes the team better.

Me too NOSA, as I had already largely reduced my NBA viewership in recent years, but will not leave a single tv on an NBA game as background filler(have 6 in a credenza in a sports room).

I'm totally pulling this out of my arse, but what if there were a Memorandum of Understanding or even a Purchase Agreement in place that contained a condition that Paul be on the roster at the time of the Act of Sale?

That is basically what I stated in not legal terms on page 1. I think it is highly possible.

Then why were the Hornets allowed to actively persue trade partners for Paul. Stern knew we were looking to deal Chris for weeks, but waits until a trade is in place to say no?

I will go under the assumption that Stern was banking there was no way CP3 would be moved so quickly. He doubted the mere genius of one, Dell Demps.

With the new CBA specifying that CP3's Bird rights are dependent on him being with his new team by 12/31, Stern had to know that Demps would move fast to maximize his leverage.
