ESPN's "Cap analyst" just said that it's no guarantee that CP3 leaves, and that he thinks the Hornets could make a deal for Howard using Okafor.

Did Dell replace Otis Smith?

He found a way to trade them Jerry West, who then decided to eat Oak's contract and a few Top 55 protected 2nd rounders for Howard.

Yea because a owner is going to want his superstar to walk away and having nothing to fricking show for it. Thats how they all work, think, do business. frick DAVID STERN. HE frickED THE HORNETS AND HE AND THE WORLD KNOWS IT!

Sign and Trade D-West for a late first roun pick the team would get the larry bird exception towards thier salary cap then take that pick along with our pick and "FLIP" them along with okafor for Howard and shitty turkolu contract, is the only possible way the hornets get Howard.

Not likely to happen

lamnick is probably right. Stern wants the team sold w it's top asset on the roster. Let the new owner make the decision with regard to Paul

Problem being that, the longer an ownership search drags on, the higher the chances that the Hornets don't get jack-shite back for CP3.

Unless Stern plans on using the 80s Cleveland Cavs as an example and gives us some free high lottery picks to help rebuild the team, he needs to stay out of this.

I mean, it sort of makes sense.

A potential owner is more likely to buy the team with Paul on it.

I don't know if I buy that. Everyone knows Paul is leaving next year no matter what.

That potential owner would have to be a very rich idiot. Anyone looking to spend hundreds of millions on a team based on CP3's presence would have to know he desperately wanted out.

My guess would be that since the league owns the team, they'd be recording any loss or gain by flipping the franchise and that a sale this late in the year makes a major adjustment to their tax liability.

That's provided, of course, that the NBA's tax year runs from January to December like an individual.

Corporations have the ability to run their tax year over any 12 month period, such as from May to April, if they feel like it.

"Announcing" a deal would not do this. Closing a deal might, but this also isn't mom and pop's sandwich shop, they can handle making the tax adjustment. Given how adamant they are about being able to successfully turn it over, I find it extremely hard to believe they'd willingly go through all of this chicanery to avoid a few thousand dollars in accounting fees to true-up some tax adjustments, which, if there has been any substantial discussions to date, they almost certainly have already considered to begin with. That is, unless the NBA is run like mom and pop's sandwich shop, which it very well may be.

Paul is going to leave $24 million on the table if he leaves the Hornets next year in FA? I don't see that happening. NBA has taken a hard line and Paul is now fricked.
