So if the Pels go 4-0 and Memphis goes 1-3 then the Pels will probably make the play in.
That is totally possible, but they have got to be coached better than today. Gentry has got to step up and have the team prepared.
Walton had everyone where they needed to be.

Not even factoring in Zion's limited minutes, for some unknown reason, the Pels never really gave it a go to make the playoffs like other teams did.
Check the minutes on guys like Dame, McCollum, Ja Morant, Devin Booker since the restart and compare it to Jrue and Ingram.
Those teams are going for it, we are not. Even in the 2 non-blowout games, BI played 31 and 33 minutes. Meanwhile Dame and CU are going 44 and 45 minutes because their team/coach/org actually have a sense of urgency to go out of their way to make the playoffs, something we never had.
Teams out there going for it while we give Frank Jackson more 1st half minutes today than we gave Redick and Hart.

That is definitely one of the most frustrating things about the coaching.
I wish those types of questions would be pushed harder on Gentry.
Holiday and BI at minimum should be playing max minutes.

No we work Jrue too hard on the defensive end for him to play 40 minutes.
BI is a different story.

To be fair, it's also two organizations at different points in their life cycle. We're still in year 1 of the post-AD era with a rookie as our cornerstone.
They're essentially maxed out with a set roster and guys like Dame and CJ who are in their prime. They made the conference finals last year. If they have a couple more years without serious playoff success, how long do they keep that team together? They're 100% in win now mode.
Not saying I don't think we shouldn't be doing ng everything we can to make it into the playoffs. But NO vs. POR is a bit apples and oranges.

pels now in sole possession of 13th out of 13 western conference bubble teams

Lol we’re gonna wind up with a top 10 pick

We need to keep losing, but im sure we’ll blow it with a win tomorrow

So the Pelicans need to go 4-0 and they will also need two of the following to occur to make the play-in:
Memphis 1-3 or worse
Portland 1-3 or worse
Phoenix 3-1 or worse
They would make the 8th seed if all of that happened.
They have about as easy of a schedule as they could ask for, but I am leaning toward getting to the play-in as unlikely.
If they made it at this point I would predict Portland being the 8th seed and the Pels needing to beat them twice as the ninth seed. So the Pels would have to win 6 straight at this point to make the playoffs. While the schedule is not impossible they haven’t shown the consistency to pull that off.

Their defense wont allow them to go on a streak like that. Its okay for a game or two, but never for several games. If i had to bet, id say they beat the wizards then lose to the spurs, beat the kings, then who knows/who cares with the magic

Blazers winning makes the Kings lost a little, tiny , sorta better for me

I cant believe we fell all the way to the bottom of these standings
I think we all felt pretty confident we could sneak into at least 9th. Man I really really really want to see Gentry fired ASAP

For those still with me we need to go undefeated these last 4 plus we'd need some help to make the play-in series. Basically according to 538 projections if we won out then we'd be in due to the strength of schedule of the teams were competing against. All of them are projected to lose at least 2 more games (Grizzlies projected to finish 0-8 in bubble).
Today's lineup:
Jazz-Spurs (Jazz favored)
Thunder-Grizzlies (Thunder favored)
Kings-Nets (Kings favored)
Pelicans-Wizards (Pelicans favored)

What time do Pels top off?
Posted on 8/7/20 at 9:53 am to EXPLAYER
Since this team basically doesn't play defense and most likely won't make the playoffs lets roll with a jrue, JJ, BI, Zion, and Melli starting lineup tonight. What y'all think?

I’m here, I don’t think I want to be, but nonetheless I’m here.

So six straight elimination games. Let’s ride.

Some of those top teams they still have to play have already locked in on their seed, so I am sure they would cut player minutes if not rest certain players completely.
