re: Shams says Pelicans are “aggressively pursuing” a top 2-3 pick for Scoot

Yeah but you can only move a guy if someone wants him. His value is so down right now, you wont get close to a decent return honestly. Honestly if he plays next year early and demolishes opponents, I would then gauge his trade value.

If you get Scoot and some other small compensation I would move on. Zion could literally bust again this season. His maturity is showing poorly too.
Also how is all of this Zion drama affecting this rest of the team.
The Pels still have a ton of really good assets.

This was leaked for a reason and either BI or Zion have to now be paying attention
Yeah, by Charlotte. Griff calling over and over with low ball offers could be considered “aggressive pursuit of a top pick”. No lie was told to or by Shams, but it also wasn’t the whole truth because it’s a leak designed to increase the trade value of the #2 pick.

What would we have to give up though… If it’s any of Zion BI or Trey, I’m out
I mean yeah. It’s gonna have to be one of those guys

Beasley hardly played for them other than torching pelicans in that one game and Vanderbilt was basically unplayable in playoffs because he stinks on offense and Russell played well until he was a nonfactor when nuggets swept them. I think Lakers did great in that deal regardless but westbrook wasnt seen as a positive asset like you implied in your post. Utah just bought him out. Utah did that trade to get a first and not to get westbrook. Just like any team will do a deal to get a first not CJ.

This is where you went full retard. CJ has far more value than Westbrick did.

I didn’t say that. Yes CJ does have more value than westbrook but in regards to a trade, a team will ask and want the first more than getting an older CJ who has an extension. But go ahead use the word “retard” to make your point more valid.

I’m ok with giving up Zion or BI at this point, with this new CBA, teams have to be more selective with who’s their top 2 guys
The CJ contract becomes an epic disaster if we deal BI for tax concerns

Westbrook was moved and the Lakers got 4 rotation players back.
They got those guys for draft capital not Westbrook

It does but if Scoot pans out and becomes a big star, honestly no one will care. CJ is a great culture guy and still a solid player but that extension aint great.

100% a Charlotte leak. Every team calls about trades. Maybe the Pels are being persistent and giving some relatively big trade offers, but it’s not anything huge.
This is Charlotte putting it up for sale.

I think its interesting that Portland also trying to trade the pick. It honestly hurts both teams in marketplace when both are trying to trade out in back to back spots. If Pels are really trying to get one of these picks, it might help them that both Portland and Charlotte want to trade. At the end though, I don’t know how much I buy that Hornets actually prefer Miller over Scoot.

They will in no scenario pick Miller. They are clearly trying to increase the value of the pick by putting it out there they might pick him so if a team really did like him they can’t trade with Portland. It increases their picks value and decreases Portlands. Smart move imo

Put me down in the camp that says that Griff is offering something pathetic like Dyson + four future 1sts, and Charlotte is using it to get other offers.

Doesn't have to be right now, can be anytime now and the next 2 seasons. There's no need to rush.
This is the highest value BI will have. Players who have only one year left have a lot less value. And there’s no one in next years draft as good as Scoot. The writings on the wall. There’s no way for Pels to keep this team together. We can sell high or hope we win it all next year. Griff’s favorite word is “sustainable” so…
We basically gave up one first for CJ. That was when money was cheap. In the new CBA, I doubt anyone will want a max player over 30 who is not an All-Star. I love CJ but he has little value in the league under the new CBA. It will be basically impossible to have 3 max players. So another team would need to want CJ as one of their two max players. I just don’t see it.

A few people have said this, it's a really off base valuation of CJ. He has positive value

Stop, that's absurd.
He's a positive asset right now.

Lol he is not a positive asset. Pretend your a GM what would you trade for CJ?
Keep in mind:
- he is making 35 and 33 mil next 2 seasons
- hes on the wrong side of 30
- below avg defensive player
- had the worst shooting percentages of his career
- third best player on a team that didn’t even make playoffs and hasn’t made one all star team.
Pluses:
- double digit scorer
- great locker room/culture guy
- still can be solid shooter
Seriously what would you give up for him? Most teams would say give me a protected first to take him.
