I been feeling like Pat McAfee a month after he went down with the hammy. I’m done with the guy. He don’t want it and is entitled to do something about it.

Yeah but thats on Pels. We gave him that contract based on potential only.

We know how good he is. There was enough evidence to say that he was deserving of the contract. There aren't many of us that didn't want him to get the contract.

But you have to think that a guy would be willing to do some conditioning to get his self in playing condition. I hate Zion fat jokes more than anything, they are so old and played out, but, if I'm Zion and I have millions of people calling me a fatass, I'm going to work my butt of to prove them wrong. He just doesn't seem to care, which is unfortunate for the Pels.

Zion doesn’t believe he can be the same player at a lower weight.

Because his lack of a jumper, his play style will require downhill power, which leads to more contact, and require more energy. This leads to more injuries. Which leads to lack of conditioning.

You can’t build around Zion.

That's the easy excuse for not getting in good shape imo

People like to compare Zion's rocky 1st 4 years to Embiid. But that is a small sample size.

How many players in NBA history have had an injury profile like Zion for first 4 years of their career, then have gone on to a long injury free career and super stardom?

I hope Zion can turn things around, but at this point I'm not very optimistic.

And does anyone really trust Embiid's body not to break down at any moment during the playoffs?

You know how you get in basketball shape? YOU frickING PLAY BASKETBALL. If he is HEALTHY and just out of shape bring his arse off the bench. Bringing him off the bench means you can put him in with 6 minutes left in the quarter and not having to arbitrarily pull him at 6 minutes even if he is playing lights out.

It isn't rocket surgery. The team is fricking this up.

Oh no. I think it’s pretty damn telling even without a reason.

TLDR: we are fricked and need to get rid of Zion as quick as we can

Watch the evolution of embiid's game.

It's become more finesse than brute force. They also built a team with 2 true ball handlers and scorers who offload that workload for him.

The problems last year still exist on this roster. We don't have a true guard who can facilitate and attack all 3 levels.

I think that's right. Their ESPN site shows him all ripped and allegedly 284.

If that's even close to true, then my man has drifted well off into the Kevin Duckworth 300++ zone lately.

Not good. Gotta shut it down here before he gets hurt worse and consider next moves.

Either Z gets his head on straight, works with a real trainer and nutritionist and walks the walk or you have to at least *consider* re-allocation of your investment. I bet he needs to lose 50-75 pounds to be healthy and in ball shape.

I love the 26/7/6 on 61% shooting - not to mention the jaw dropping breakaways - but none of that does us any good if he's constantly injured. Damn ....

Written off this year. Next year is the acid test. If he can’t stay healthy next season and we don’t make a push with him, bi, cj and trey… that will be it for me. Same

Agreed. If Z doesn’t stay healthy next year and we aren’t a top 5 seed…I’m out

I think the why is pretty obvious.

There is an understanding of what weight he needs to be at in order to play. He's not going to play until that happens. He's so far away from the ceiling weight, that they know he's weeks at best away from playing.

Zion isn't willing to stop eating. Do you know how bad the eating habits of a guy like him must be to gain 20-30 pounds in such a short period of time?

This isn't about "conditioning". There's only two explanations. He's beyond the weight they are willing to play him at...or there's still something significantly wrong (uncommonly wrong) with his hamstring.

If you're not in basketball shape then you are just asking for an injury like...a pulled hamstring. Conditioning may not be the reason here, but it's definitely a legitimate reason for a dude coming off a strained hammy.

ETA: I don't claim to know anything about what Zion has been doing off the court, but based on how I've perceived his personality, he seems like the kind of kid who would try to avoid things that truly bother him.

I know some people who are like this, not about professional basketball, but in general. One does indeed start stress eating and playing video games all day when that stressor is impossible to hide from any other way. If that is the case with Zion and the inability to play basketball, then I could see something similar.

No clue, but that's my best guess. If so then the team therapist needs to get off their arse
