It will all make sense later that we’re bringing in a basketball guy to run the business side and he will hire people to make the basketball decisions ? Oh ok

Dumars is going to run the business.
What makes you think this would be the case? Delusional?

How much do you know about Dumars?

He's owned many businesses. He was an ascending executive with a franchise over 10 years, then consulted with another before taking an executive level position with the league for many years.

You think he's leaving his current high level position to be a GM for our club? He is coming to lead the business, which is a mess and underdeveloped. We need a new stadium, staff, a tv deal and to build out our network. There is a ton of opportunity. If he does well, there is probably a minority stake for him. He's going after bigger fish than our current team make up. He's beyond day to day BS..

Thought it was a good idea to have Josh Smith, Greg Monroe and Drummond on one team.

Gave away Middleton and Afflalo for nothing

Signed Charlie V and Ben Gordon to ridiculous contracts

Had 9 different coaches in 14 years

So what

"ascending"

He won a championship 21 years ago, squandered that team, and got fired 11 years ago after a series of horrific moves.

Then never got another full time head gig with a team again.

I get the doom and gloom, but I think a lot depends on what the plan is. Is Dumars going to be hands on running the team or just training wheels for Graham? Back when we had Demps I was begging for the team to get him a senior advisor, which they eventually did with Ferry. So this could be like that rather than digging up an old fossil to run the show.

How worthy Graham is to be driving the train is unknown. So far all we know is he's been given most of the credit for the great drafting.

We had zero leverage in the AD trade

Got quite a haul back. Griff just mismanaged it

What a way to make all of the oxygen leave the room.

Franchise is dead if this happens.

At least Zion is fun to watch when he is healthy, it was worth going to a game just to see him play... but you want to keep Willie, hire Dumars and dump Zion and TANK his perceived value doing it, frick this franchise.

Difference is that AD was a known quantity on the court and the Lakers had a strong interest.

Zion impresses when he plays but he makes AD look durable.

With this ownership/management group, I believe I’m done choosing to believe there’s a bigger plan in place, instead the perception is likely the reality

Right now I’ll assume Joe will be calling the shots and the coach will be Willie or possibly Avery Johnson, since we seem to love those that once had some success, have a connection to the state, and pray with Gayle

Davis had already been multi-time all star, multi-time all nba 1st team, been to the playoffs, DPOY candidate, MVP candidate, and even won a playoff series by that point.

By comparison, Zion hasn't done anything in his career.

Is this guy, NBA savy?
Will he make timely player moves?
Can he evaluate coaches?
Is he a capologist?

Joe Dumars?

No for the most part.

The first one is debatable I guess since he’s worked directly for the NBA in an exec role for a few years.
