My entire argument surrounding Durant is based on that. I'm not mortgaging our future and risking the present on a guy that hasn't proven he can stay healthy in three years.

They don’t. Look at Lebron. He’s breaking down. I know the lure KD brings but one or two years versus trading several years with a young group that loves playing with each other just isn’t worth it to me. Besides I don’t see how you make KD, BI, Zion and CJ work salary wise unless everyone else is on minimum contracts. You’d have to trade Ingram and I’m not doing that. He loves the Pelicans. KD would get bored then you’d have to deal with him being a malcontent. You can learn from history and he’s done it everywhere he’s been.

LeBron is carrying an entire team of scraps and is damn near 40. KD could share the scoring load with BI and Zion, with CJ being a facilitator and spot up shooter.

Which is why for me, I only make a deal if you get assurance and keep the core in tact.
You have to pencil in that KD is likely to play less than 65 games every season going forward, and Zion/Bi/CJ are also more likely than not to be under 72 games played players. And the way to endure that is having multiple stars and/or great depth.

This is purely a philosophical issue imo.
I think the Gobert trade is a colossal mistake for Minnesota. I think trading a decades worth of picks always is.
Way too much to gamble on the health of a skinny oft injured dude nearing retirement age for 90 percent of the NBA. If he was 28 maybe.

If he is 28 theres no question lmfao not maybe. Sadly he is gunna be 38ish when his contract is up and making 50 million. No thanks.

They can't but what's going to happen is it's going to freeze the market. Like why would Ainge take less for Mitchell than he did for Gobert? So he'll sit on the asset until he comes to terms with the fact that nobody is going to pay that much.
Same with the Nets. Although the Nets still have a championship core on paper. The paper goes out the window when you add 2 hefty doses of Crazy and Dysfunctional, but still, I think Marks would rather try to win with KD than start over with lesser pieces.

Don’t fix it if it’s not broken. This team took the best team in the NBA record wise to their limit in the playoffs without our best player. Stay the course. Keep developing our young guys, play hard defense and let our stars carry the load. We have the dominant inside guy in Zion, the dominant rebounder in Val, the insane defender in Herb, the mid range assassin in BI and the sharpshooter in CJ. I like our chances.

I sort of get the logic if you are an LAL or GS or other destination market, cause you have the ability to attract high level free agents or superstars, but for teams like Minnesota, man, giving up your own picks in particular, so far out, when superstars are on the move more frequently than ever, feels like a recipe for disaster.
Yes if Minny blows it up you will get firsts for Gobert/Edwards/KAT, but, they won't be your own, and most likely they will be from teams that will be in the playoffs. So you'll be rebuilding with players drafted in the 20's. It's not a total loss, but does set you up to struggle with any sort of rebuild.

Lebron is an absolute FREAK in terms of durability. Probably one of if not the greatest American athlete in history when talking about longevity and durability. LeBron has NEVER suffered the injuries that KD has the past several years.

Well I will say this. KD can sit on the 3 point line and feast if he has a major gravity-driver like Zion. He can do that until he's 40+
It's a legit question if he could average something crazy like 46.5% from 3 with a guy like Zion and another guy like BI

It is amazing how inflated the trade market is for firsts. Hell, we traded for Jrue Holiday by sending two first round picks when he was young and ascending, and traded him later in his career for two first round picks and two first round swaps.
