Speaking of Herb Jones (which I seem to ALWAYS be doing)...IF the Lakers truly want Herb as much as I THINK they do...they will keep their powder dry until draft night in June...and then probably have up to 3 1st round picks they can use to go HEAVY after Herb, including their 2026 pick.
Lakers basically have little to nothing (pick-wise) to go after Herb this trade deadline. Assuming they understand they have NO shot at competing for the cheese this year, they will just move LeBron...find them a solid rim-protecting, alley-ooping "5" to work with Luka...and wait on draft night.
Two or three 1st round picks plus an "expiring" (or maybe even a keeper)...should make the Pels quite happy to move Herb...before he begins to lose value by hanging on to him for too long.

The only way Borrego had a chance to be retained is if him and his coaching staff forced them into keeping him by winning. That's not happening and you can bet that their first coaching hiring decision will not be coming from a guy who was hired by the last regime.
