So a guy who was never available is definitely not available now. But lets keep making up targets of guys we have no shot at in trading for over the realistic trade targets that are available.

I've got some reservations about Trae myself, but I don't really see the argument for keeping the powder dry because the grass will be greener later. It looks like the grass will be the same color later.

Glad to see you came around on Trae. I’m not his biggest fan, I just think if we can get him at a reduced cost, asset wise, his fit on this team is perfect.

The lack of realistic options available is why I was all for going all in on getting Mitchell when the Jazz traded him. No one agreed or wanted him at the time so here we are.

I’m a few years ahead of Griff, so probably in two years he will be trying to get him then….

I'm not a fan of Trae, but if a star wants to be here you gotta jump on the opportunity.

Mitchell was not the guy, you can't take that risk of an unknown.

He just signed his extension, would have had him for years and we would have been able to pair him with Zion.

Yiu think Cleveland was his top choice when traded?

How many elite players do you think there are in the league? If you aren't top 10, you aren't elite.

You honestly think he accepts a trade to NOLA and signs an extension here?

Thanks for adding that qualifier after the fact.

Elite can mean many things. I think if you've averaged 25 and 9 for your career you're elite in some regards. If you can take a low seed to conf finals you're elite.

See how easy it is to define elite to fit your argument?

Most people agree that he isn't elite. You thinking he is elite makes you the outlier, not us.

I would be willing to bet that most people could agree that he has the potential to be elite. Now, whether or not you feel like he always plays elite basketball is up for debate, but he has shown the ability to play elite basketball in the past.

Yiu misunderstood, I said we should have traded for him years ago when the jazz unloaded him like I suggested then. He was under contract for a few years already. He had no choice but to play here. You think he wanted to get traded to Cleveland of all places?

My quote from over two years ago. And it’s still holding true. No one wanted to hear it back then…..

There in lies the problem. I don’t see any stars (not at 25 entering their prime years anyway) being made available via trade any time soon.

So basically limiting “elite” to top 10 and then calling other people out on your definition of elite (that nobody was aware of). I see why they call you Jester now.

I don't think he's elite. He has some elite qualities but as a whole, no. I think most would have him in the mid 30's as far as fluid player rankings go.

I wouldn't say there are 40 elite players in the NBA, but there's more than 10.

Why the frick are these stickied? Very misleading. I was hoping for some actual news not speculation.

Nothing is misleading about the thread subjects. One is about the fa/draft. Another is about trae listing us as one of the preferred destination, and the third is about his fit and why you would/wouldn't prefer him.

I stickied them all to curtail everyone creating a thread with any little thought they had about all 3 subjects.

Beats me.

That was not the intent. I was trying to pull repetitive Trae arguments out of the official offseason thread so there would be less noise to wade through and people could find the latest news and rumors in the main thread better.

You can create a thread about another subject if you want chad. I just hope you don't continue to twist words of other posters like you did with cajunmd and myself.
