I was skeptical about the Pondexter acquisition initially because I had heard he was not happy with the organization when he left, and I thought it might not be a good fit. But it seems like he's fit like a glove so far.

He's bringing that Memphis culture to the team. The guy knows what it takes to be a winner. We need more of these guys off the bench.

To all those people upset that we aren't able to draft cheap bench players, would QPon be this good had he stayed here the whole time? I don't think he would be. It might be a good thing that it will be 2016 before we can add another impressionable young talent to the team.

The finger belongs to Wolters or Jimmer.

AD said in postgame QPon tells them before every game they need to start a streak. Thought it was funny since he's only been here 6 games but it speaks volumes about his place in the locker room.

I really feel like there is an intangible benefit to this acquisition

Yep, he brings everything that Salmons was brought in to do while actually being able to play basketball at an NBA level.

Apparently what I posted above was the abridged version, the full cut is even better:

quote:

“Amazing, amazing, amazing. You haven’t seen crowds like that a lot here lately. It brought back a lot of memories from my rookie year here, with Chris Paul and David West. We’re bringing it back. We’re going to be fine – I want the fans to be here and trust in us. There were times when the game could’ve gone either way, but we stayed together, fought together.” – Quincy Pondexter on the exciting atmosphere at the Smoothie King Center

“The kid is unbelievable. You can’t compare him to anyone because we haven’t seen a player like him before. It’s amazing that he’s so young and still has so much more improvement to get. I’m happy as hell I’m on his team. He’s a winner. You can tell in his heart that he wants to win games. He’s not going out and trying to get his numbers; you see that with some talented guys. He’s trying to get wins. And he digs deep, encourages other guys. He’s learning how to be a leader. I feel bad for the rest of the league the rest of his career.”

I really like Pondexter, to me, it feels like he plays much better than what his numbers show. 8ppg, 3 reb, 39.5% fg, 28.5% 3pt. I know a large portion of his contributions come on the defensive end, but he seems better than those numbers offensively, too.
