Kuminga is an upgrade from Herb.
Kuminga fits the timeline better for this team. It’s tough losing that caliber of perimeter defender when you have no one else. On a team that lacks defense already
But I can understand the proactive move when you see guys similar to herbs archetype of player whose value has diminished pretty quickly.
DFS was worth a quality first at minimum at one point and wound up being traded for less
Thybulle was worth similar. Not anymore
Bulls sold Caruso at his peak statwise and got a young quality player out of it.

Kuminga is a good player and getting better. None of us are denying that.
Maybe Joe is just in "acquire good players now and trade players if fit doesn't work mode"
Just get good players, if the fit doesn't work trade off ones for ones that do.
Not how I would do it, but maybe that's his game

Herb Jones would be the best asset ever traded for a player acquired via sign and trade. I highly highly doubt that’s how it goes down.
Now maybe Herb gets traded for assets elsewhere because of this trade. I don’t know.
And as everyone has stated and thought, this makes no sense. I can’t even begin to imagine what the plan is at this point. Just hoping for the best.

I don't understand why we would want Kuminga. Especially with what we would have to give up to get him.
Can someone explain this?

How does no one understand adding a 20pt PF when everyone constantly bitches that our 20pt PF is always out. I mean... this isn't rocket science.
You have guys like Beasley/ Hardaway/ Dinwiddie/ etc that always have a similar impact to Herb on other team. He's replaceable with vets that's the truth.

No, besides him being a good player, its a bit mystifying roster construction wise

I don’t either.
I don’t see this going as badly as the Tyreke Evans experiment but that was signing a guy who has no ranged shooting at the expense of having a center who could shoot (Sideshow Robin Lopez) and a good distributed at point (Grevis Vasquez).
This would be signing a guy who has no ranged shooting at the expense of either our defense or our ranged shooting.

Why is it when other teams want the Pels' players in sign and trade deals, all we get is a shitty second-round pick and some shitty backup? But if the Pels want someone else's guy, we have to give up value. Hell no.

We still have, on our roster, on a huge contract, said always out PF, that also plays SF
And we have a huge contract SF that also plays some PF in lineups.
And we drafted at #13 and gave up next year's first to get a guy that is likely best played at PF.

It depends on their contract... Its not that simple when teams want an expensive guy and have to trade value since those players have larger contracts. At the same time there's a chance we can get him without including Herb.

Say it with me:
Building a roster in spite of Zion.
Building a roster with the best possible assets we can acquire.
Lets repeat it.
Building a roster in spite of Zion.
Building a roster with the best possible assets we can acquire.
Stop overthinking everything when the answers are obvious.

We still have Zion. On a huge contract. And backed ourselves into a win now, right the frick now situation.
Trade him. Or build your roster with him in mind.

Trading an unprotected first round pick to move up 10 spots to 13 is a fireable offense as well. Joe don’t care.

Yeah we don’t have the luxury of trying things out this year

Bey and Trey can play SG too. And they are actually shooters. If we trade Herb/ Jose/ hawk you have something like:
Poole/ Fears/ Murray (out)
Trey/ Bey/
Kuminga/ Peavy
Zion/ Looney/ Karoo
Missi/ Queen
Once Murray comes back you slide Bey to backup SF. God forbid we build a roster with OPTIONS. Who wouldn't rather mediocre backups and only 5 clear starters that are worth a shite

He did score 18/ 30/ 23/ 26 the last 4 playoff games without Butler/ Steph. He was their guy. I'm not complaining about a dude who averaged 24pts in his last playoff series.
...and before that, when Steph and Butler were healthy, he was BENCHED by Kerr. A healthy scratch. He was most certainly not "their guy."

Jose and Hawkins for Kuminga
Herb for Jarrett Allen
Murray and Missi for Reeves and Laker parts
Lakers needing to compensate a team for taking an expiring so our books don’t explode.
Just trying to make all the rumors make sense. Minutes, dollars, rookies, style of play. Nothing adds up as constructed and rumored

Kerr and Kuminga have had issues for at least six months.
Kuminga called out Kerr for benching him in a game where he was hot yet they went on to lose to the Wolves in a massive comeback.
Kerr in turn made some comments that IIRC boiled down to “He ain’t what he thinks he is, so he needs to STFD and STFU.”
