I believe this is the best start to a season since 08-09 right?

Pels viewership on Bally's is down 14% from the previous year.

What do you think the deal is, the disconnect between this team, the record, and capturing the market's attention?

Honestly I'm not very excited for them either, despite them winning games.

Wonder if the mood with NOLA sports is just shitty generally.

After the Saints utterly blew what should have been a successful and pretty comfortable season… to then watch the Pels repeatedly blowing double digit leads and chucking games might turn the casual fan off somewhat…

we’re playing better now though… tell them!

Inflation and Ballys sucking dick. I imagine a lot of folks cancelled coverage once bootlegging info became more available and they heard the company was bankrupt.

I think access to games is the main issue. Bally's started out the season with nightmare tech issues for nearly a week, almost like they wanted the NBA to cancel their contracts. As if $20 a month wasn't enough of a deterrence, $20 to maybe be able to watch the game is an even dicier proposition. I believe every Gray Media broadcast game has had really good ratings.

I think most casual fans would be quite happy with the product this year. Its the diehards that post here and are invested enough to be contemplating that this team's ceiling might be the 2nd round so it's time to blow it all up and fire everybody.

I'm sure Bally's themselves has something to do with that. I pay for it but i wouldn't blame a single person that doesn't want to. It's an overpriced crap service.

Also, I'm sorry, Pels "media" on Twitter can scream until their heads fall off that New Orleans is a basketball town until they're blue in the face but telling yourself that over and over doesn't make it true. On one hand you hear them say "New Orleans is a basketball city" and on the other hand they'll say "If they win games, people will show up." Those two do not work together You're basically saying "New Orleans is full of bandwagon fans". A city that's full of bandwagon fans is not a basketball city.

Truth is, the Pels are 25th in average attendance. The 19-36 tanking Raptors are 7th in attendance and hell the all time bad Pistons sell more tickets than the Pels. That's a basketball city. Basketball cities sell tickets even when the team isn't winning. Pels struggle even when they are having one of their best seasons ever.

Male cheerleaders

And distribution through Bally’s sports. People aren’t going to search for the games. Bally’s is burried deep in the channel lineup.

Other cities have larger corporate backings. Those corporations buy large blocks of premium seats.

I watch a majority of games through a streaming website. Sure there’s a lot of other people like me and we don’t count towards that viewership total

I ditched Direct TV, therefore I no longer have Bally's and I'm not paying for an app that barely works.

Fan base has had there expectations let down 3 out of the past 4 years. 22' Playoff run had the city and dare say the region buzzing. Since that time the team has made no major moves to upgrade the team sans Zion playing more games. The past two summers and trade deadlines were underwhelming to say the least, and a team in critical need of a 2 series playoff run to grab some shine may fall short of expectations, not just due to health.

Ok. That still doesn't really change the fact that the Pels attendance isn't good, even when the team is winning, much less when they are losing.

This...everyone is waiting on the next injury to derail a promising season. It also doesn't help that we completely shite the bed anytime we are on national TV or on Fox 8.

I don't believe this is an entirely accurate statement. One thing ESPN used to have on their attendance chart that is missing now is the attendance %. Last year the Pels were 12th with a 99.4% of capacity with a lower average attendance number last year, 16,772, than this year, 16,999. Is the attendance really bad when it's that close to capacity on average? LINK

It doesn't? Pels arena is smaller capacity than most, so % of seats filled is higher than many. Also, if large corporations in other cities are buying up the seats, that is counted as attendance even if seat is not filled.

I'd say 99.4 would be pretty dang good for the Pels. Do I believe it is actually 99.4? No. I mean we've all been to the stadium and seen it on TV, they aren't almost selling out every game. Or maybe they're selling the tickets but there ain't that butts in the seats.

Same with every other arena. Attendance based on sold tickets. That is why some areas with large corporations have sold out arenas with a lot of empty seats.

Bc the Bally's app is fricking trash. I watch every game on my iPad. I have to start the Bally’s app, let it time/error out, swipe it away and relaunch and do the whole username/password Every. Damn. Time.

POS app. Sometimes it’s easier to use streameast website.
