Just something about Kentucky guards that translates to the league. Reeves and Matkovic look good.

You know he played at Illinois State for 3 years before transferring to Kentucky right?

Agreed on Hawkins being a catch and shoot guy but that’s not a bad thing. All teams need a shooter off the bench and that’s what he is for us.

Karlo surprised me. I didn’t know he was this good. He can definitely be a nice big off the bench.

Reeves is cool too. I see him as a back of the bench player/G leaguer. That’s good for a second round pick too.

You can tell Matkovik plays euro ball, always looking to pass and move.

The team IS terrible. They never assemble a good team because they are always looking to experiment with things like Point Naji, and this year the same with Hawkins who just doesn’t have the handle for it.

Point Naji for multiple years seemed to pay off. I’m not so sure the same will happen with Hawkins. I want Reeves to get some early season minutes against real NBA players because if he can give you what Hawkins is giving you, then Hawkins for Duren or Kessler makes some sense and may be a necessary trade.

This is also what I am thinking. Hawk for Kessler gets us under the tax AND significantly improves us at the center position.

How much else do we need to add to do this? A single first? 2 swaps? Something like that?

Reeves should get a ton of shots in preseason, Hawkins has a challenger.

3 defensive rebounds in 30 minutes against a team that missed 42 shots.

Doesn't look like much help coming from the group that I saw this summer! The 2 draft choices were unimpressive.

I only watched game 3 of Missi, but was very unimpressed with him.

I"m obviously not going to get my panties in a wad about how a 20 year old looks in the summer league, but i thought this cat was supposed to have a high motor? It doesn't seem like he plays with that high motor to me. I did see the potential defensively to guard the perimeter though, and if he can learn how to play switching defense at this level, then he may end up being a good role playing big, but he has so so much to work on before he can play a contributing minute in the nba.
There's no offense with him at all, and i didn't see much of a alleyoop threat from him, unlike Karlo who is looking like a great rim runner, and somehow more athletic.

quote:

Rim runner, ally-oop extraordinaire … Really explosive dunker and plays with a high motor … Tries to dunk everything and gets a lot of highlight plays at the rim … If his feel for the game continues to improve, there’s a lot to be excited about with Missi’s upside … Plays with a lot of determination and intensity … Very good rim runner … Gets a lot of dunks on ally oops … Showed solid progress as the season went along and even became more adept at putting the ball on the floor and using his speed advantage to get by opposing bigs off the dribble getting to the basket … Big potential as a shot blocker. A good shot blocker with rim protector potential, if he can continue to learn spacing and not bite on fakes … Shows very good timing and anticipation on blocks … Good hand eye coordination and soft / strong hands … Does a very good job of grabbing boards and catching passes, even out of his area … Excellent body control for a big

Missi looked more confident last game than previous. He definitely should have more rebounds/ points than his stats show.

Not sure if he just has a slow reaction time or if he's not giving the effort. He let a few smaller guys get positioning or get to the rim before him while being in a good spots.

If we ran this summer league team like a traditional team then he would be excelling. I have way more confidece in his minutes knowing we will have competent facilitators in the game.

Karlo never went to an NBA combine, so we don't have a true comparison to Missi's 38.5 max vertical, but Karlo supposedly recorded a 41 max vertical in a European camp in 2018 (when he'd have been 17).

But Missi can definitely get up there.

I think that there are times when he's hesitant, because he still has to think too much and the game doesn't come naturally to him yet.

Karlo is definitely much more ready to play than Missi, but I haven't been disappointed with Missi in SL. I think Missi has looked like what we thought we were getting: a raw project with lots of potential.

I without a doubt see the potential, but i would haver rathered Holmes (despite his rotten luck), and really i would have rathered we pick the best availalbe player which was Terrance Shannon.

Please just do away with him. He’s Kira 2.0 and will always just be this.

Guy has real life NBA success on volume shooting, yall worried about a guy working on things in SL

36.9 3P%
38.8 3P% On Catch and Shoot Attempts (3.7)
37.8 3P% When he has the ball for less than 2
Seconds
41.23P% While Open

3 years left at $7 mil AAV. Only job is to catch and shoot the ball. We already have 4 guys who will dribble the air out of the ball.

Worth saying that I do think that was his worst of the four games so far.
