who have we lost out on? Everybody that was available when we fired Gentry, is still available.

The coaching pool has never been deeper, I'm not concerned about not having good options at all.

I'm still trying to figure out why he's waiting.

- He's waiting on people who are interviewing, like Lue, or in the Bubble still.
- If the rumor of a dollar cap is true, the longer he waits the more other options go off the table and make candidates more likely to take a lower salary.
- If the rumor of a dollar cap is true, waiting gets you closer to news of a vaccine which means fans in the stands and maybe gets the dollar limit increased.
- Waiting gets you closer to the draft and potential roster reshaping moves which might impact which coach fits best.

Right, this is actually a pretty good year to have a vacancy. A few actually good former HCs are available: Atkinson, MDA, Donovan (no longer available). Lue is a current assistant that a lot of teams are high on that was a HC that won a title.

You also have a TON of assistants that a lot of people think are ready to take the next step.

This is a pretty good year to have an opening imo.

Woj was on ESPN this morning and basically said the Pelicans are still early in their hiring process. Still information collecting and haven't started any interviews.

Sounds like it might be a while.
Doesn't seem to make sense. If the rumors were true that Griffin was considering replacing Gentry in December, has he not had enough time to collect information? If he has even thought about replacing Gentry, he should have a lot of info already and be targeting those coaches he wants to interview. I almost get the feel Griffin may be using Woj as a mouthpiece to help with leverage on someone that either wants too much $$$ or control.

46. Killian Tille PF, Gonzaga should be our second pick. He will have an immediate impact for the Pels.

We’re going to get a coach with great player development skill, holds players accountable, and implements a fast entertaining brand of basketball like Griff and Langdon want.

The push for a Christmas Day start to the 2020-21 NBA season, which would naturally please the league's TV partners, is gaining momentum, league sources say
Zion's got 2 months get in shape...

Was watching some of those bubble highlights, and it really is unbelievable how wide he got. A different person from his time at Duke, and even a really noticeable difference from how he looked before the shutdown.

Ultimately, none of this other shite matters if Zion shows up to camp fat.

The NBA is targeting Dec. 22 for the start of the 2020-21 season and a 72-game campaign that finishes before the ‘21 Olympics

Interesting off season comments from Bobby Marks

quote:

Bobby Marks @BobbyMarks42 32m

One thing that is unanimous is that teams are lobbying for the tax level to come in at $139M and apron at $145M.

If the tax stays flat at $132.7M, FA and the trade market essentially will become frozen.

A flat tax would only benefit the teams with cap space.

Probably the biggest thing is that S&Ts become a lot more viable for more teams.

Houston needs some size, we have Favirs we can S&T to them.

Favors on a 3/35 with next years top 10 protected 1st to Houston in exchange for Covington. Who says no?

Yeah, Covington is almost 30. I see where he'd fill a huge hole this season, but we can't give up draft picks for players that don't fit the timeline well.

Yeah that would not make any sense at all.

Maybe I've overcorrected after the Dell years of giving away every single pick for jackshit, but I'm not giving up picks unless it is for a true difference maker that fits our timeline.

We may still have a pick next season from the AD trade. Small moves like that would not effect our timeline in the slightest. At some point we have to move some of these picks, there's zero chance we will keep all these picks, there's just not enough room on the team. Top 10, or even if we do lottery protection, means if the pick conveys it was a successful trade.
