Pelicans interviewed 9 candidates, will start finalist interviews this week

These candidates must value getting the Pels job more than any bargaining leverage they could get from other teams by leaking it. It’s not a coincidence that the only name we’ve heard leak has the Pels as a fall back. Hopefully this means Kidd isn’t a legit candidate either.

Well he helped trade for Tobias Harris, Elfrid Payton, Vucevic, Dedmon, and Harkless their 1st or 2nd year. I want to say Oladipo and Gordon were both drafted under him as coach. That team was just really young and under performed. They traded away most those guys for pennies after Vaughn was fired. Crazy to think if that core stayed together.

I’m ruling out both Lue and Kidd. If Kidd interviewed for the job, there’s no way the LA media wouldn’t have gotten a hold of that information.
As for Lue, his camp leaked out his interview with the Pelicans out of all of the candidates. He has to be using the Pelicans to drive up his price. And based on his tweet about the Rockets job, it seems like that’s where he wants to be.

I would rule out Kidd based simply on the fact he is still in the bubble. I would venture out that they interviewed these 9 in person, then whittled down from there. My list:

Sounds like he’s better as a GM than a Head Coach

I said it in the other thread but it has to be the LA/Cal press having a lot of inside sources.
Think about it, basically anyone that has been involved with either LA franchise and has been on the move has had major leaks: Kidd, Lue, Rivers, Brown etc. And pretty much every sneeze is getting leaked from the FO side on who is in the running and what the latest developments are.
And who are the people that keep getting leaked about the Pels? Overwhelmingly LA names.
