It always works like that, 1 pick away from Mahomes

Easy trade up tbh

Should’ve been on the phone and trying to trade up from pick 4 and beyond.

He was my favorite player in the draft personally. Safest guy in the draft tbh bc he’s so damn cerebral and has plus size for a PG.

1. Maybe they tried

2. If it were that easy and obvious, then Sacramento would never be have done a deal.

Obviously hindsight is 20/20, but I was on record before the draft that I would’ve picked him number 1 and it felt like the entire board was pretty pissed he was sniped right in front of our pick

I feel like there was probably a trade to be made, we just didn’t want to give up the value necessary to do it.

When a guy looks to be a star, sometimes you just have to overpay in a sport where only 5 players can be on the court at a time. Hali and Zion combo would simply be ludricrous.

The word was that, if Halliburton was there, we were already set to trade back

Supposedly we didn’t even want haliburton. Idk how true that is but that was the rumor post draft that we would have traded back or something like that

I said in the draft thread that year we shoulda been blowing up the suns phone to trade up with them once he fell that far. I thought for sure they’d draft him.

Also said the pick we gave up for Adams was a waste and we coulda used that to move up a few spots to take Maxey or Bey that same draft.

Supposedly Griff had a trade in place if he dropped to our spot so wouldn’t have mattered.

I had to look up my final draft board from that draft:

Trading out of the 4th overall pick to draft two players that will struggle to find a 2nd contract hurts more.

Zion rarely plays so count him out.

he was wonderful at iowa state but got injured.
he also got injured after a terrific start as rookie.

i want/need to think griff was properly conservative about spending his pretty high first round pick on a star with a college injury.

Meh

The Pels are 57-57 when Zion plays after 4 seasons. What does that tell us as Zion as our franchise player?

I mean outside of Zion’s injuries, those records are markedly different poor choice there

It's not comparing the 2 to each other.

if you think Zion is top 10 level NBA player, then how do you reconcile a .500 record over 4 seasons while also trying to use Haliburton's record to downplay how good he is?

Or do you think Zion is nowhere near a top 10 level NBA talent? It can't be both. You can't say Zion is THAT good and ignore his record while using Haliburton's record against him, so which is it?

Definitely a mark against him and not the guys he's playing with

Anyone can get numbers on a bad team

I’m not saying he is a bad player but clearly is not that dude. Next thing you know you are paying him. $43mil a year to collect L’s like Bradley Beal
