That can't be true. You can't tell me there is no trade market for Rivers. Giving him away for free is better than stretching him. Hell he might even be able to sell a few tickets in Orlando with his local ties.

I will be pretty goddamned pissed at Demps if we use the stretch on Rivers.
That can't be the plan. If it was/is, it is a SHITTY plan.

That's just one of many routes the two teams could take. But NOP hasn't found taker for Rivers yet in trade talks, sources say.

Also now that I'm rationally thinking about it, that could definitely be a leak by another team in an attempt to soften the market OR it could be Demps trying to get someone to call and make some offer for AR

This.
Rivers is making $2.4m this year. That's chump change in this league.
I would rather have Rivers than an $800K hit in dead money across three seasons.
We couldn't have done something like packaged a bunch of guys for John Salomons so that we could cut him for $1m or a stretch waive of about $300K a season?
