I feel like every move Demps is made is justified with "yeah, but he clearly has something in mind for the future."
One move sets up the next move is pretty common thinking in NBA GMing, I remember seeing people saying that about Bower because it's true. It's often hard to get what you want directly with a single move.
quote:
Remember "he has a deal in place to move Odom"?
Odom wasn't coming here, so he had to have something lined up, and after the fact rumors from non NOLA sources said we had something lined up with Jersey.

Evans is definitely redundant, but Dell clearly intends to move Gordon.
The salary distribution doesn't make sense and Gordon had already been on the block before signing Evans. You're trying to make it sound like apologist conspiracy theories when it's just following the evidence we have to work with. Having plans that don't pan out =/= not having plans. He very clearly made mistakes with Gordon, both in resigning him in the first place and thinking the trade market would allow him to have been moved by now. Are you saying you think he thought a $37 million backcourt was the long term plan even though he was already trying to trade one of those guys away?

How does the Chandler Parson 3 days deal affect the Asik deal.
It shouldn't. They can go over the cap to keep Parsons. Although they need Asik, Lin and possibly Jones and Motiejunas off the books before maxing out Bosh which does need to happen before matching Parsons.

Rockets have talked w/ Deng, Ariza, Pierce. Could use the cap room planned for Bosh if lose him, Parsons. Pierce maybe at MLE, but unlikely.

That's exactly my point.

Bring Terrance jones over with asik,
oh yeah we don't like him , we could have drafted him

We definitely could drag our feet and force them to choose between Bosh or Parsons if we didn't fear them reneging on the Asik trade. I talked about it a bit earlier this morning, the 2 teams besides us that were rumored to be interested in Asik for Asik have had their situations changed. Boston traded for Thornton and can no longer absorb Asik. Philly drafted Embid and may no longer want Asik without getting paid for it, and Philly is who they were planning to dump Lin on, presumably with the pick we give them for Asik. There are other teams with cap space, but they have bigs already and would probably want Houston to pay for it. Houston could be out of legit options besides the Pelicans which gives us leverage.
The problem with that is we don't have the cap space to do take on anymore without moving Gordon or Ryno. But maybe we could get Houston to give us Jones and Motiejunas, who they need to dump anyway, and we can get those to turn Gordon into something more useful in a multi-team trade. Although I'd rather keep Gordon than help the Rockets get Bosh and Parsons.

rox with bosh & parsons would be a problem for the pels
interesting aside:
Tyreke Evans is owed 3 years, $32.2 Million.
Gordan Hayward will be paid 4 years, $62.9 Million.
Chandler Parsons will be paid 3 years, $46 Million.

Something is up.... Babbitt still hasn't shown up for summer league practice. I wouldn't be surprised if he has been traded.

Been asked about Babbitt. Do not see him here, but see some new faces. More coming soon.

You ever considered being the resident Pelicans beat reporter. I feel like we get more info from you rather than the other guys on BS Shots.
I'd frequent your site if you started one.
Just sayin.

Yes to an extent. It's not a good look for us to agree to something that we can't fulfill under the proper timeframe.

The 72 hour clock on Parsons hasn't started yet. Donnie Nelson said the offer sheet won't be submitted until tonight.
Why are they giving Houston more time?

I don't think it really matters. Reports are that Bosh is not going to make a decision until LBJ does.... he is basically CB Miami's opportunity to get Melo

Yet Dallas couldn't get a peanut butter sandwich for him. They weren't even asking for jelly, but no takers.

The evidence is that the plan was faulty at best.

Who knows what the plan was. Having a plan =/= know what you're doing.

What about teams whose big changes may actually make them want Asik now whereas they didn't before? If Miami loses Lebron and Bosh, would they consider a S&T of Asik/parts for Bosh?

Sign-and-trade involving Mavs, Rockets and Chandler Parsons still very much an option for all involved, reports Dallas News.

Deft move by the Mavericks. Sure with Dell and the Phx front office could have worked together.
