Being a below average PG makes him a below average PG.

Bananas.

They get Bron, they have to go back to Minnesota for Love right? Godfather offer. Anyone other than Kyrie, Wiggins, and Varejao (Bron isn't signing off on moving him) plus picks. Is Waiters, Thompson, Bennett plus picks really that much worse than Thompson/Lee from Golden State?

Lin is vastly underrated on the Pelicans board for obvious reasons. He's not the all arounder Holiday is, but he is a much better (edit) at getting to the line and a much more efficient scorer largely due to shot selection.

He's probably best as a 6th man, Jamal Crawford type which is perfectly fine. $8M/year isn't that much of an overpay.

Nevertheless, the Cavaliers have little choice but to dutifully make the moves necessary to make James an offer. The biggest obstacle remains unloading the contract of Jarrett Jack. The Cavaliers have found a landing spot for Jack and his $6.2 million annual salary in the Brooklyn Nets, but only if the Cavs can find a third team to take on Brooklyn's Marcus Thornton, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

Cleveland is offering Thornton and future draft considerations as incentive to absorb his $8.7 million expiring contract, sources said. The Cavaliers need to unload more contracts and have made 2013 first-round pick Sergey Karasev, among others, available in deals, sources said.

They don't have the cap space to make a max offer to LeBron as of yet. They'd have to create about $6m of space to do that, then see what assets are left for a play at Love.

They're believed to have a deal in place to flip Jack and a pick for Marcus Thornton, which is a net savings in cash but eats and additional $2m in space this season. They'd then have to flip Thornton for pure cap space somehow.

Which further dilutes the Eric Gordon market if that's possible. Why trade for Gordon when you can get MT5 for half price and expiring.

Philly, Utah, or Milwaukee on line 1.

All three have a ton of cap space and are looking to acquire assets for the long-term, though Philly is already expected to absorb Lin if Houston gets Bosh or Melo.

They'd probably just work that trade as a 3 teamer, if I had to guess. There are teams that need to spend cap money, so when the chips fall I'm sure it won't be too hard to find a spot for Thornton.

The landing spot isn't the problem, it's the sweetener packaged with him.

If Philly will be taking a 1st along with cash for Jeremy Lin, teams will want similar things for Thornton et all.

The salary floor, as the CBA is constructed, just means that anything not spent below that is distributed to the current players.

Getting paid to take on a player to get you to the floor costs you no money out of pocket but gains you whatever asset you are paid.

I really wanted him in the draft last year but he did basically nothing all season.

With the dumpster fire that was Cleveland last year, I wouldn't hold it against him.

Without some massive veteran leadership and/or a hardass coach, they aren't fixing the proiblems there.

LBJ would definitely be "veteran", but I'm not sure if leadership applies to him. I'm thinking more along the lines of a Kobe, who is a massive a-hole but also pushes himself to the limits to win.

Good read from McNamara on the standstill around the league caused by Lebron and Melo and how its affecting us.

And as the moratorium lurks on Thursday, Dell Demps timetable to make a move or series of moves to absorb Asik without giving away pieces he deems valuable is getting smaller and smaller. In all likelihood, the Rockets will demand that the Pelicans put in the trade to the league the second that the Moratorium is lifted so that they could have significant cap room.

Would the Rockets really demand that? I know teams will want to move as quickly as possible, but does it really matter if Morey has to sit on a contract signed by Bosh for a few days before submitting it to the league office? It's not like Bosh is going to go seeking new deals once he signs with Houston, and if Morey tells him "this will take a few days to process to maximize the team we have." why would Bosh or his agent complain?

Seems like at least a month ago by now.

Maybe it has more to do with Parsons, than Bosh? I'm not sure.

It is believed they made Parsons an RFA with a wink wink deal already in place. This is McNamara speculating. Just because he's speculating doesn't mean he's wrong though. There's nothing stopping Morey from putting the squeeze on Dell other than not being an arse. We are division rivals getting a player that will make us better after all, but it also would seem like bad form to try and screw us on when you didn't need too and that would make other GMs wary of entering hand shake agreements with Morey in the future. So he does have something to lose by putting the screws to us, and honestly I'd expect he doesn't see the Pelicans as much of a threat or he'd have traded Asik elsewhere. Houston's window and NOLA's windows may overlap a bit, but it will be while they are on the decline and we are on the rise, not much in the next few years.

He also somewhat benefits from playing in the uptempo offense that HOU plays.

He's a below average to average starter but a legit sixth/seventh man. Holiday is a much more complete player.

PER is a pretty flawed statistic for guards anyway.

Within Heat, still confidence they'll keep LeBron James. They know difference between his agent's agenda, and James' strong mind of his own.

Speaking on First Take, ESPN's Stephen A. Smith said the Knicks and Sixers have had conversations about a deal that would send Amare Stoudemire and Iman Shumpert to the Philadelphia. Although what the Sixers would send back isn't clear, it likely wouldn't be much more than a draft pick or non-guaranteed contract player, as the Knicks would do the deal to clear cap space.

The move would clear roughly $25 million in cap space for the Knicks, and would potentially allow them to chase another prime free agent. Although losing Shumpert would be a loss for the Knicks, it would likely be worth it to rid themselves of Stoudemire's contract.
