Possibly Roberts for an non-guaranteed contract?
I'm ready for the Asik trade to be final, so we can get an idea of what the roster will look like going into the season.

ESPN has learned that Pierce will sign a two-year deal with the Wizards at the mid-level exception with a player option entering Year 2
Interesting...

Would have loved to get him at that length/price.

Another SF off the board. Didn't see Washington as a player for him. Quick replacement for Ariza.

Sources confirm ESPN report: Paul Pierce to the Wizards for two years, $10M. Pierce wanted to play with Wall and Beal. Solid salvage 4 Wiz.

May be there only a year...

Why wouldn't the Wolves just take Waiters, Thompson, maybe Bennett and the picks themselves?

Damn, good pickup for the Wiz

It's past midnight. Can the trade go through now?
Posted on 7/13/14 at 12:14 am to quail man
I know hou has a deadline of 3PM to sign parsons
The Asik deal I THINK(atl can correct me) can go through today if elys deal is able to be traded(might be the 14th though I forgot).
I think we need to put another UG contract in to seal it.
Or a 3rd team gets involved?
Can't think anymore goin to bed.

MLE explaining LeBron's contract and why Gordon might be less likely to opt out next summer even if he's healthy and has a good season.
This is true for all players, not just max guys. Stu Jackson tweeted that the 16/17 cap is projected to be $80M and that the average salary would be $8M.
quote:
There are two major reasons why LeBron would want a 1+1 deal right now:
Every single max player should want to become a free agent in 2016
quote:
Since CBA ties the individual maximum to a percentage of the salary cap, a big increase in the salary cap in 2016 with the new TV contract would mean higher salaries for max guys at every experience level.

I don't think it affects Gordon as much as it affects Lebron. Gordon certainly isn't looking at a max contract next go round.

Absolutely. But if you can be a FA, would you rather be one in a year with a $66M or $70M+ cap?
Posted on 7/13/14 at 8:32 am to corndeaux
For most players, the answer is clearly $70M. Gordon has the whole injury issue, though, which may drive a "get it while you can" thought process.

It's a no brainer imo. The only way I see him opting out is if he goes nuts this year, which quite frankly isn't possible for him with our depth in our system. The injury thing is a non issue. Getting 15m is getting yours if he's still worried about it. Our best hope is that he plays well, looks healthy, and becomes a movable contract that someone will want to obtain as a piece for them moving forward. Or at the very least a flyer on him for a year to get to their CBA team minimum without expecting anything in return.

Just to give you an idea, the max contract first season salary for contracts signed this off season is 20.7m, if the cap were set at 80m, the first year on the max contract would be ~26.2m.
