They'll have 2 $8.4 million trade exceptions from Lin and Asik.

They shouldn't have one from Asik if they receive non guaranteed contracts, right? Or is that no longer the plan?

Only reason I can see GSW making that deal is surrender. They are conceding that they cannot compete for a title any time soon, so they are acquiring assets. But still...

And are Minnesota the ones sending away picks? If so it doesn't make sense for them either.

I think the Cavs still have the Heat pick, but that rumor doesn't make a lots of sense.

No way. I would say a fair trade would be along these lines.

Cavs: Love
Wolves: Klay and Tristan Thompson
Warriors: Waiters, Cavs 2015 first, Heat 2015 first

GS could be realizing that Klay Thompson is going to be their Eric Gordon soon with the new prices. Trading Thompson for Waiters and other assets might make sense in that case. But probably a bogus rumor from one of the teams trying to change the leverage equation.

True, I guess they'd only get a $3 million trade exception out of Asik.

If the money works, I like that deal for every team.

The Wolves are the obvious loser, but they also have the least amount of leverage.

Which is why I think its probably a BS rumor. Minnesota can get this deal at anytime, they should hold out for Wiggins. At worst Wiggins and LeBron click and you take a Thompson deal like this later, at best LeBron says "get rid of this rookie making rookie mistakes and get me Kevin Love."

The Cavs would be scary good next season with Love on that team.

If Rockets can convince WAS, NOP to convert Asik deal into 3-tm deal (Asik to NOP; NG'teed deals+2nd rdr to WAS; Ariza+Pels pick to HOU)...

...Rockets could get Ariza, match Parsons, all while still preserving their MLE, BAE and $8.4M Lin TPE. Ideal scenario for Houston.

NOTE: Ariza salary was most Rockets could offer today with cap space. Asik trade might not happen until Monday.

Yeah, so how about no...?

If Pelicans won't play ball in S&T, could still propose 2-team S&T w/Wizards using Lin TPE ($8.4M), slightly adjust Ariza pay structure...

Not as ideal (would lose Lin TPE for future move), but still preserves MLE & BAE. Imagine Wiz would take 2nd rounder for their trouble.

we're happy the Rockets want to make us better (though HOU isn't in a good spot since Asik wants out of there)... but we can't return the favor to let them get better by letting them keep all their exceptions

Yeah, if we do them a solid and let them keep all those exceptions, they need to let us keep our pick. That's not a crazy tradeoff for the Rockets. A young rotation player with our future pick vs. an MLE and solid starter level player with the TPE.

Phoenix would be loaded at SF with Deng, Tucker, and Green. Not sure how much it would take to pry Green away.

No surprise. Wish he could somehow fit in here, but good to see him draw some interest.
