Knucklehead reputation in wsh but that had more to do with shite managment. Been fine lately though.
Doesn't seem like it from Zach Lowe's article today.
quote:
He impressed higher-ups when he unilaterally banished Andray Blatche from the team in December. The Nets couched Blatche’s absence as due to “personal reasons,” but Kidd really booted him out of concerns over his conditioning and preparedness, per multiple sources familiar with the matter. The timetable on Blatche’s absence was open-ended; Kidd told Blatche to come back only when he was ready to play. It was a suspension in all but name, and the organization privately applauded Kidd for taking a strong stance.

If Blatche was effectively suspended for being lazy during the season, I don't see how you make him your 3rd big. Maybe bringing him in doesn't mean Ryno is gone, hopefully it means Aminu is gone (S&T to Brooklyn please).

quote:I don't even get what you're saying. It's not like the Rockets have a history of going over the cap and then into the tax or anything. They usually have cap room because they like to flip players for picks instead of other players since picks are like currency... all teams are interested in picks. And that keeps their options wide open. They are also good at finding undervalued players that can contribute well above their pay-grade.
Why do I keep thinking that the Rockets are one of those teams willing to spend and spend, do everything to create cap space so they can spend some more, and, at the end of the day, they're lucky to make the second round of the playoffs. Yeah, I know some people love their front office, but meh.

I'm probably influenced by recent interviews with Morey and Alexander. The other day Alexander was talking about money not being an issue and that the fun of owning a team was getting stars and winning championships. May be a recent epiphany of his, but he said it.

If you said this when you signed Lin, I think everyone would laugh. I applaud your FO though. They traded for Harden, gave him the keys, and turned him into a star-ish. Had faith in Asik, gave him a heavy contract to take him away from chicago and he produced some really nice numbers. Got Dwight and unloaded Asik for a potential mid 1st rounder.

Doesn't look like we are going to hear anything for awhile. Teams are going to have to lose out on Melo/Bron/Bosh. Then guys like Deng. And then the next tier of dominoes will fall, including teams that cleared a bunch of money looking towards Plan B. So it might be a minute.
Also, Blatche doesn't really make any sense for this team. He doesn't replicate what Ryno can do. He's definitely a down low, Center type of guy or a rebounding PF.

For cap enthusiasts, Hardwood Paroxysm has opened a new site, Mid Level Exceptional, that is all about the economics side.
LINK
They also started a site, Upside and Motor, all about young guys in the draft and D League
LINK
This is their take on Smith
quote:
Nobody this side of Larry Coon — and maybe not even Larry himself — knows every single in and out of the CBA by heart. I can’t possibly expect that of you.
This will be a site where you can read a discussion of the merits of the individual maximum salary; or the amount of salary cap space your favorite has entering free agency; or about how much the cap might go up if the television rights deal doubles; or whether Sacramento’s publicly-financed arena will or will not be good for the city; or how Steve Ballmer’s $2 billion purchase price of the Clippers affects the rest of the league. You’ll see discussions of all those issues in this space at some point today, and more in the days to come. We hope to cover everything you can think of, eventually.
The knowledge our staff does have, we’ll pass on. The knowledge our staff doesn’t have, we’ll strive to find.
So if there’s an issue — any issue — related to the business of basketball that you don’t see an explanation of or a theory related to on this site, ask us, and we’ll do our level best to find you the answer you seek. You can contact us at midlevelexceptional@gmail.com, and we’ll get back to you.

Here, we'll cover the draft and D-League, the next face of the NBA and professional basketball, with the same style and invention that you've seen from Hardwood Paroxysm.
This site isn't going to be Draft Express or a knockoff. We're not a scouting service. DX is the icon, and this will never be that. But talking about the draft, writing about the draft, exploring the draft is fun and a huge part of the NBA. I hope you'll enjoy what we bring you.

47. New Orleans Pelicans — Russ Smith, 6’0, G, Louisville
I love this pick from the Pelicans, and it seems they’re quite big fans of Smith too as they’re planning to let a solid backup point guard in Brian Roberts hit unrestricted free agency. I’ve written about Smith at length here, so I won’t bore you with the details about how I think Smith was the most underrated prospect in the draft this season. Trading Pierre Jackson for him admittedly might not have been awesome value given Jackson’s apparent cache around the league, but I don’t think this will come back to bite the Pelicans too badly.

As the 3rd big no, but what about as the 4th big? Maybe Brooklyn has expressed interest in Aminu and needs a S&T to get him, Blatche would be the obvious return and if you can get him for around $3 million, it's not a question of Blatche vs. Ryno but Blatch vs. Jason Smith.

Obviously it comes down to how much he's making. But considering what others are getting paid on this roster, I really don't want my 4th big getting 4-5 mill per.

Lakers, Heat and Bulls join OKC in reaching out to Thunder vet Caron Butler. Butler picked OKC over Heat last year after buyout from Bucks.
I'd say scratch Butler off the list of stop gaps if he has playoff teams after him.

Damn would really like to keep Morrow.
This might be a frustrating few days as lots of other players/deals/teams are mentioned and we aren't.
Come on Dell...if you're going to do something to make the Asik deal happen, do it.

If we don't trade EG for a dumb contract that kills bleeds us for a longer time, we'll have freedom come 2016

On the BSS FA Rumors page McNamara says his BFF in Atlanta's front office says the Lakers are looking to turn Nash into someone who will actually be able to play and are willing to take back longer deals, which of course got him dreaming about Nash for Gordon trades. LINK

I don't think they would get many better offers. Josh Smith, maybe, but the lakers just drafted Randle.
