Whoops. You are absolutely right. I could have sworn it was the 7th. Well, could see some movement today.

know there are some people that really love Hardaway here. Do you love him enough to give up a 1st? Like Asik + 1st for Hardaway + 2nd and then give the 2nd to Indy to take Ajinca and QPon for a CJ Miles S&T.
That would be a dream scenario and i'd do it in a heartbeat.
i didn't think you could do a S&T for a RFA.
if there is a way to sign Tim Hardaway Jr without going into the tax, i'd love it.

It honestly may not be that realistic. Atlanta just got paid a 1st for taking Crawford who has 1 less year on his deal than Asik. I proposed a 1st and getting change back so you'd be able to sign Miles too.

Weren't Tyreke and Ryno RFAs when we acquired them via S&T?

I was just reading about it.
You can S&T a RFA, as long as they haven't signed an offer sheet with any other team.
So say Hardaway signs an offer with Brooklyn, Atlanta can match it or let him go, but they can't S&T him to another team.

That 1st is the top 3 protected first from Houston in 2018. There should be a fairly reasonable difference in value between a surefire low 20s pick and a potential 10-20 pick.

Well depends on what his salary #'s are but I think I would do that before Atlanta got the words out of there mouth

From what i can tell, which i'm not sure how accurate it is, but we are at $101M, which is just over the cap, and that's with only 10 players on the roster AD/Cousins/Jrue cap hold/Solo/Moore/Diallo/Crawford/Asik/Ajinca/Qpon.
Is the point of trading Asik in the scenario so we can offer someone like Hardaway, say $14M/yr? The trade can be completed as long as we don't go over the tax apron? but if we don't do a trade then we would have to have the actual cap space to offer someone like Hardaway $14M/yr?

In this instance would we still possess our MLE?
Could use that on a big

I have $110 counting Jrue's new deal for this season not his cap hold since we're concerned with taxes and not cap space. It also includes Jackson, Toupane and Cook. They're all on minimumish deals so I figure if one gets cut they'd be replaced by a similar minimumish player.

Yes. I think the most cap space I could free up while keeping Jrue but stretching Asik and dumping everyone else like Cunningham/Cook/Toupane was $12.4. That probably isn't enough for Hardaway and puts Asik's dead money on your books for 7 years.
If the 2 trades I proposed are realistic, you basically use a 1st to turn Asik/Ajinca/QPon salary into Hardaway/Miles and you are enough under the tax to bring back Cunningham on a $4-$5 million deal. You'd technically still have the MLE, but wouldn't be able to use it without going into the tax. You could use part of the MLE instead of bringing back Cunningham though.
I'm not sure if that's the best use of our 1st, but I don't think it's bad use.

Crewz seems to be hinting that something could be done in the next 48 hours. He said the player would be between 4 and 7 in the rotation. With such a big range, it leaves a lot open to speculation. Smart? Miles?

It's someone with a name big enough he thinks it will sway Vegas oddsmakers.
Do Lin or Smart change the Pels odds that much? Lin would certainly be a reason to give MM enough confidence to put his money where his mouth is, I just don't think it changes Vegas' view much.

Just put $1000 on Pels to make the playoffs. Got 2.8 to 1. Put my money where my mouth is
Trust me, you will never have better odds than now. By this weekend, I think most will think Pels are a playoff team

It wouldn't be the route I would take, because I feel like this team needs another facilitator, but I agree that it isn't a bad use.
Cousins
Davis
Hill
Hardaway
Holiday
Miles
Moore
Cunningham
Crawford
Diallo
I don't really like that, but it's okay.

I feel like adding a starter to a lineup that already has 3 good pieces may move the dial a bit. Lin more so than Smart.

And right on cue he starts talking about Lin out of nowhere. That's the problem with MM, and probably the way he likes it, we never know if he's enlightening us or trolling us.

Last time he was in a Gentry/D'Antoni like system, Lin put up a 19.9 PER and since then he has become a much better shooter. 19.2 last year
Also, before last season, Lin averaged nearly 75 games per season over the prior 4 seasons, so cut it with the "injury risk" shite
If the Pels can get Lin, this is a dynamic offense that should also be a top 5-7 defense. It's a playoff team barring catastrophic injuries

Cook and Toupane can't be traded until the 8th. I'm guessing that's the holdup and the reason for the 48 hour window given.
Posted on 7/6/17 at 9:53 am to TigerinATL
Hes had 3-5 tweets in a row about Lin now. I know he's talked him up for months, so that would make sense. Not sure Lin does much to move the Vegas odds though.
Posted on 7/6/17 at 9:53 am to TigerinATL
I mean, I know he's a fan of Lin and has said so many time in the past, but he's kind of been overdrive with him this offseason...makes one curious

In no order
Miles
Hardaway
Smart
Lin
All either give us more shooting or open up for Jruth bombs right?

It's not just MM who's a fan. Dell tried to sign him until Brooklyn stepped in and the bidding got too high. Dell has a history of going after players he's wanted in the past.
