Stuff is happening though: we re-signed Jrue who will have a healthy, undistracted offseason, AD & DC are currently working together on their chemistry and ball handling, Moore & Hill are working on their shooting, Q-PON is working on staying alive...etc.

bunchy where do you get this stuff from?

Teague 36% from 3 last season
Butler 37%
Wiggins 36%
Towns 37%

Those aren't great percentages all things considered. I bet Teague or wig has the highest 3PA at like 3. The vast majority of the points scored by all 4 of these guys are inside the 3pt line. So they are all averaging 1/3 a game at best on shots that were probably given to them undefended more times than not since other teams know they are more efficient scorers inside the 3pt line.

Floor spacing will be a foreign term to that team. There is a reason, most every pundit is throwing this thought around while still having access to these straight % numbers.

The move that has me wondering is going back and spending 14 mil a yr on taj gibson; a guy who will bring no spacing; when there were still plenty of shooters available at that price.

Why would drafting Fultz instead of trading down for Tatum prevent them from signing Hayward or getting 50 wins?

you wrote

The most logical thing to do was probably draft Fultz and move on from IT.

i assumed, incorrectly it appears, that you meant draft Fultz, then try to deal Thomas this summer.

still, stands to reason, they werent pitching Hayward on the idea of taking a step back over the next 3-4 years, which is practically impossible to do if they drop Thomas.

whether you like it or not, it seems like they are going to ride w/ Thomas for a while.

they need someone who can consistently guard 1's

Hayward and Brown and Rozier and whichever one of Smart/Bradley is still around can guard 1s. they're fine there

If Jae was on the last year of his deal, he would be gone.

perhaps. but this is just bizarre.

so the master plan would be:

trade a better player at a more valuable position so we can keep expiring guards, all of whom we wont be able to sign next summer, so we can give our rookie lots of minutes as we try to make the NBA finals

I didn't say they were great. How many teams are loaded with great 3P shooters outside of GS? Those are average to above league average numbers

Dude said they can't shoot for shite. It's just being grossly exaggerated. They were league average as a team last year and that was with Rubio and Dunn

They are shopping for shooters, too.

Do we have any concrete evidence he is in fact still alive?

Wiggins is far from a superstar, he's probably the worst defensive player on the league.

I feel like you're comparing all of these teams to the Pels team of last season. The Pels didn't click immediately with Cousins, but there was evidence that they were clicking before AD and Cousins were shutdown.

Ok, I agree they aren't terrible shooters, I misunderstood you.

They are definitely a bunch of guys that will give you average results when they have to settle for the 3pt. The issue is that they don't have a single person who's game runs through 3pt efficiency primarily; which in today's nba, is a formula that is hard to win with. Unless they fix that problem, there's going to be no room for any of these guys to operate to their full potential; so at this point, they aren't that scary to me. The taj signing doesn't give me hope that thibs realizes this.

Wiggins is MIN 4th best player and he's only 22 years old, coming off a 24 ppg season

He is a terrible defender, I bet butler helps him there though

Early win/loss over under has the Pels 6th, behind the consensus top 4 and Minny.

Part of me wonders if Danny Ainge would intentionally charge the pelicans premium because we have 2 players that essentially round out the roster for them. He could very well be hoping we implode this year. A deal he would accept from another team might be declined from us.

No, who's going to score on the Jazz? Their lineup is great defensively but who's going to take over the game?

Gobert
Favors
Crowder
Hood
Rubio

Yeah I'm to the point now where I've accepted we haven't made any moves because Dell simply put this organization in a very bad spot salary-cap wise. No assets, no flexibility, no future picks- just a ton of really bad contracts given to average to below average players- including a contract given to center named Omer Asik that is impossible to move.

You really think Dell hasn't tried to move Asik? Nobody wants him, period. That is dead money for the next 2 seasons, nothing you can do about that. Even if you attached a first I don't think that's enough to rid Asik- or else Demps would have already made a trade. So for everybody complaining and worrying about other teams making moves and us not.. well... we don't have any cap space left nor assets for a trade to make a good move.

Demps just signed Darius Miller today. Those are the weak moves he's been working on and really his only choice. Look for a few more scrub signings to fill out the roster and MAYBE a CJ miles for the MLE- but that is it. Demps ain't doing anything else trust me.
