right and without another vet that’s a lot to ask of a vet like jrue and a coach like Gentry.
I realize it everything has to happen immediately but I’m not sure why you’d wait a year to do it if you want to play for high picks in a subsequent year
jrue s value will never be higher than it is now
I think that unless the Knicks are able to swap DSJ and another player like frank and a pick for a legitimate NBA player that we can assume that they won’t be getting Davis this year

Jrues gonna be kept until the deadline imo
There's no reason not to get some team to pay up then for a final piece.

I’m on board with the team with making him the face until zion is ready.
which is why a rebuild to the studs is off the table and the Knicks offer as is won’t work

Why would they trade Jrue? He’s a great two way player that’s a great example of how to be a professional to a young guy like Zion. Also, Griffin is on record multiple times saying Jrue is part of the core of this organization. I don’t think he has any reason to lie about that.

Agreed. Jrue helps this team more than any return on him would get. Davis is a different story because he's a malcontent that wants out.

jrue is not getting traded
the discussion is that if the pels take the Knicks deal as is, the only logical next step is to trade jrue.
thus the desire for the Knicks to get an older player

quote:Not sure how much they could really get with DSJ, Ntilikina and Knox. Knox's value is so low right now, I would almost prefer taking a chance on him because I do not think they can get much for him. Saric does nothing for me.
right but in this case it would be lower tier guys like maybe saric or similar.
a guy like that plus #3 plus Mitchell and the first DAL pick would be interesting

I actually think Knox could turn into useful shooter off the bench
He clearly started to improve towards the end and took a ton of 3s and hit at a decent clip.

In other news, Washington is still interested in Masai Ujiri and may offer him an ownership stake as part of the deal.
That would end up affecting Toronto and Washington because Washington would have to give up assets since Ujiri is under contract, should he take the deal.

Washington is desperate
they could get a haul for Beal right now but they should not have panicked and moved porter and Oubre last year. Those guys would be in high demand in the weeks to come
satoransky, Portis and dekker are all RFA
they’ve got nothing else to deal now

I think leaks will come out mid to end of the week about what AD trade packages could look like. Then I think Griff takes the weekend to decide and finalizes the trade Monday night with the finer points nailed down that night or early next Tuesday

I’m just so ready for this to be over. I’m exhausted with the hypotheticals and mock trades.

Kyler
@stevekylerNBA
There are a number of teams trying to secure pick rights prior to the draft to get guys in for workouts... equally, there are several teams trying to gather more picks for an Anthony Davis trade

I’ve seen a lot of differing opinions on Kyler’s credibility. A lot of people saying he’s got none. So I don’t know. But if true, I would find this really interesting, because it means Griffin is telling teams he values draft picks.

Can you link that tweet? I’m not finding it.

Crewz says he's heard Portland is trying to get in the mix.

Portland is the darkhorse team. Here is there plan according to a Western Conf exec:
So, they trade for AD, using CJ (& others) and sign Lillard to an extension this summer. They try to convince AD to stay like OKC w/ PG, Tor w/ Kawhi. If they do, awesome. If not, they put Lillard on the block and go full rebuild.
Right now, they can offer CJ and Collins, and apparently they are offering some expiring contracts for worse contracts and getting picks to add to the package (think E. Turner for Batum, #12, 36, and future 2nds).
This is crazy, my head is still spinning from this bomb. I havent processed it fully yet. Figured typing it out might help, but I still dont know if I love it for Pels or not. And I cant figure out if I think thats bold or dumb for Portland
I guess, best case scenario for Pels is you get something like CJ, Collins, Harkless, #12, 26, and a future 1st for AD and Solo.

They would be a welcome bidder.
If not the top bidder, they would be up there just by having some of the best pieces to immediately do a turnaround in addition to some middling picks.
CJ locked up long term beats the hell out of Ingram or any of the Laker players. Also beats Tatum today but maybe not Tatum a few years from now.
