Lakers surprisingly are a good fit. Saw a tweet from the Lakers SN site that Randle doesn’t want to return. I mean I know you said they aren’t really interested Crewz but if they’d give us Randle in a S&T LOL

I’d think they’d need Randle on the table for Kawhi, no?
Posted on 7/1/18 at 7:58 pm to BilJ
Probably I was saying that for fun. Randle is now an interesting piece regardless.
Posted on 7/1/18 at 8:02 pm to BallHawk
He’s undersized and his range is 10’

Randle isn’t what we need. We would want Kuzma or Ingram but this is all academic.

I’m team S&T but can the Lakers even do it at this point ?

The Lakers also still have cap flexibility available to continue exploring options like DeMarcus Cousins or Clint Capela in free agency, as cap experts Albert Nahmad and Bobby Marks detail. Accommodating James’ new max deal would reduce L.A.’s cap space to about $13.4MM, and the team is reportedly re-signing Kentavious Caldwell-Pope to a $12MM deal.
However, the team could re-open substantial space by trading or stretching Luol Deng, or by renouncing Julius Randle. Deng has an $18MM salary for 2018/19, while Randle’s cap hold is $12,447,727. The Lakers will also have the $4.4MM room exception available once they use up all their cap space.

They won't be able to trade Deng and take back zero. Even if they stretch him and renounce Randle, they can't get to 25 mil, let alone the one year, 28 Boogie would demand so that he can get to the max if he plays well.

I think signing LeBron makes moving Deng infinitely more difficult because I think they would have had to send a 1st out too and that first just became less valuable...

Does Boogie even have another suitor? I wonder if Dell would lower his offer to Boogie, just like he did with the Kings in the trade...

Kinda wish the Pels got in on Mario at that price
Woj mistyped. Actually to NYK

The core of the offer has been on the table for a while. What he might change, or threaten to change is the options, incentives, etc. But they won't demolish Boogie just because they probably can

44% shooting last year, 33.7 from 3

You kind of feel for Boogie in a sense because he's been a model citizen/employee in his time in NOLA and was almost guaranteed a max deal before the injury. Hopefully he sees the mutual benefits here and bets on himself to come out the other side.

I want to see the alternative universe where he didn't get hurt. They were really starting to click. The only thing I wonder on the negative side is if Jrue would have made the leap he did in the playoffs if Boogie never goes down
Regardless, I want to see that universe

Yeah. Pels would've hosted a playoff series and probably take a few from rox/warriors and put the league on notice.
Posted on 7/1/18 at 8:43 pm to Crewz
I agree. That's the argument I have with people here all the time that tell me the Pels are better without him. You don't get "better" by losing a guy that gives you 25/13. They won 7 of 8 and I think the Niko trade would have happened regardless. I'm with you, I don't know if Jrue makes the strides he does but he was playing well before the injury too. He played pretty consistent from mid December onwards I think.
I'm all for bringing him back and think is the most realistic and sensible outcome. I think the trade market is where we have to find someone or take advantages of the oversaturation of guards on the market and convince someone of opportunity costs here.
