alright, what do we need to do to get Kawhi?

I doubt the Spurs would want Cousins, so our chances are slim to none b/c we have nothing else to offer other than Jrue, and Pops is an idiot and he's going to force Kawhi to the East.
Feels like someone is about to get a lot better, Boston?

Get a time machine and have Dell start collecting assets.

Other than that, nothing. Boston, Sixers, Lakers can all EASILY outbid us, and none of them are in the Spurs division.

My guess is Pops could care less what his preferred destination is.

In non-Kawhi news, there are reports that Dallas is willing to take on bad contracts for a top-10 pick with a mention of Chandler Parsons following Scotto's report that Memphis is considering moving No. 4 to dump Parsons.

I am a bit curious as to what Memphis' plan is going forward. I can't see them rebuilding with Gasol and Conley. Just get rid of them and get some assets and start a complete rebuild. It will be a challenge for them even with those two guys to even make the playoffs the next 2 or so years.

A poster on Pels Report thought this one up...just wondering what this board's thoughts are...

Solo, Ajinca, Moore, and 2019 1st for Parsons and #4

They could flip Moore for more assets. This opens them up some cap space moving foward and gets them out from under Parsons

This actually gives us more breathing room and Parsons becomes a nice expiring next year assuming he stays healthy.

I don't think Memphis would do it but it would be something to think about it were offered

I imagine Memphis could do better even with Parsons awful contract.

Lol Memphis is about to rebuild. They aren’t going to give up the 4th pick in the nba draft for no young assets for bad contracts and a mid 20s to late 20s pick next year...

Just stupid.

Parsons would refuse a trade to New Orleans out of fear of amputation

Can’t trade back to back first round picks until after our traded pick is used I believe.

They would have to select the player for us and then make the actual trade after Chicago uses our pick.

That is not uncommon. However, there are much bigger hurdles than that (such as convincing them to make that trade for such minimal assets).

If we get a 2018 1st in any deal, then we can trade the 2019 1st before the draft.

Can't we trace the 2019 pick right after Chicago selects?

We can trade our 2019 pick as soon as Chicago uses our 2018. Alternatively, we can trade the 2019 1st anytime before then if we also receive a 2018 1st in that trade.

makes no sense. No one gives up the #4 pick to simply save $5M, or even $13M assuming you could give Moore away. Completely unbelievable.

I'd like to try to get rid of Solo and grab an expiring guy, somehow not giving up a first round pick in the process, which may be impossible.
maybe something like Solo for Terrance Ross, although i think'd we have to give up something else in that one. Same for Jared Dudley. Jeremy Lin and Carroll would fit that need but i think we'd have to give up the 1st to get them.

Reason i'd like to do something like this is to get more expirings. If we had $27 million in expirings, that's nice to have at the trade deadline, especially if we still have the 1st. Or if we don't make a trade at the deadline, we have expirings to help out for next year to resign Niko.

Maybe Dallas doesn't get what they want this offseason and really sucks again. maybe they are ready to move Harrison Barnes. We'd have expirings for them. If Washington sucks it up, they may look to move someone like Porter or Beal. Milwaukee is in a make or break year, if they can't be better than 8th in the east, then they need to make some changes quick or they will lose Giannis.

Teddy,

I was just throwing it out there for the sake of discussion. Let me be clear, I didn't think it was realistic either but I thought it discussion worthy. Maybe that was my mistake. Either way, I'm with you in that we need to move Solo by the deadline with Ajinca to make some noise going forward.

I know. Nothing directed at you. I've been to that site before and I'm more than aware of the idiot's they have and the delusional conversations they have.

many of the smarter pels writers have been pointing out recently the effect cousins had on two particular players last year with the pels:

1) darius miller thrived in the space that was left by cousins' gravity (league best 3pt shooting or close to it), and his shooting plummeted after the injury

2) meanwhile, rondo was unplayable with cousins, but stepped in to his new role better than anyone thought possible afterwards

miller is currently un-guaranteed at 2.2MM for this year, if the pels guarantee his contract that's what he will make. rondo is UFA with a 3.9MM cap hold, and its unclear what it would take to re-sign him

so, while re-signing cousins is a gamble, so is re-signing rondo to a deal that would double (triple?) with the tax. going into the tax is near certain with any boogie deal; that's gayles money and not ours, but it does limit how the team can make transactions

just something to think about
