Before the trade: $102.5 million in salary + $48.3 million in tax = $150.8 million
After the trade: $97.1 million in salary + $30.3 million in tax = $127.4 million
If they stretch Wallace's salary: $90.3 million in salary + $14 million in tax = $114.3 million

Like I've said a few times...we are going to have to fill out this roster off the scrap heap.

It is what it is.

I'm really of the belief that Seth Curry is our fifth guard and Douglas will be moved for another bench piece.

Non Pels related but fascinating conjecture from Chris Mannix at SI

quote:

Which begs the question: Could Doc Rivers turn the roster over? Which, translated, means, could Rivers look to trade Paul? Paul is 30. He has two full years left on his contract and a player option for a third. He is still one of the top-three point guards in the NBA. His value is sky high. It would take an unbelievable offer to extract Paul from L.A....an offer like, say, Cleveland’s Kyrie Irving.

This isn’t a rumor. At least not yet. But several NBA-types I have come across in recent weeks have posed this hypothetical: Paul for Irving—which team says no? Irving is an All-Star and the best young point guard this side of Stephen Curry. And he is only going to get better. But if you are the Cavs, you are looking at a five-year window to win championships. And you have to expect, perhaps dread, that you are going to get San Antonio in the Finals. Which player, over the next few years, is a bigger asset?

For the Clippers it’s a no-brainer. You get Irving who, at 23, can grow alongside Blake Griffin, 26. You reboot the team without losing much talent. And you head into the Summer of Durant (heretofore known as S.O.D.) with an All-Star point guard and power forward just entering their respective primes. Makes for a heck of a presentation.

It’s an interesting scenario. I wonder what LeBron James thinks.

clips reportedly putting the full-court press on jordan to reconsider leaving for the mavs. as funny as that would be, i'm not sure what would be better for the pels...

dallas could easily replace him with another center (albeit not as good of one), but without DJ the clips are in a bad spot

DJ would be a straight Bitch if he backed out. All that shows Dallas and LAC is that he really doesn't know what he wants to do and who he wants to play for. Will make him look bad and already makes him look bad as he is reconsidering his agreement.

I would MUCH prefer him to go to the Mavs. I think we're better than the Mavs with or without Deandre. Clippers will be contenders for at least the next 3 years, and I'm hoping that we can at least be darkhorse contenders come 16/17.

Also, we don't want the Mavs to tank like Cuban said they would. Although, they did get Matthews, so I don't know what his stance would be.

Matthews hasn't signed anything yet either. He may not want to play for a tanking team, and I'd bet that the Mavs FO wouldn't mind his reneging since Matthews wouldn't fit with their new plans.

I don't think anything will come of this. While technically nothing has been signed, teams have made moves as if these commitments were firm. Also, if a Team decided to go back on one of these commitments against the players will you know the Union would make a stink about it, so I don't see why the Owners would let the opposite happen. The circumstances would have to be a lot more extraordinary than Jordan changed his mind for this to happen. It'd at least need to be mutual with Dallas.

Not to mention his agent would get completely shite on. No teams would negotiate with him if he let a client renege on a deal.

ETA - well maybe not on the agent front, just read this:
quote:

Sources say the Clippers, since Jordan's return to Houston, have been bypassing his representatives from Relativity Sports and have been urging him to take their offer instead while there's still time.

I think his agent is probably trying to convince him to stick with Dallas.

This is going to be the impetus to do away with the stupid no signing period.

It would be completely awesome if Doc and Balmer walk in the room to meet with DJ...and Cuban is sitting in there. "Hey guys!"

I'd rather him play for the mavs just so he can stick with his original commitment. The only way his mind changes is if clippers players, specifically cp3 and Blake, are in the meeting this go round.
