Seriously, although no one, not even Utah thought he would turn into this.

Yea, it's definitely a no brainer statement that we should have made that deal. No doubt that would have been better.

But there's also the likelihood that Markkanan with the Pels is the same dude he was with Chicago. Which again, is fine and could have helped but nothing like what we just saw from him this season.

Just an update on Lonzo from today:

quote:

Chicago Bulls guard Lonzo Ball said that he will miss the 2023-24 NBA season, but he said he feels back "on track" following a cartilage transplant in his left knee in March.

During an appearance Monday morning on the "From the Point by Trae Young" podcast hosted by the Atlanta Hawks point guard, Ball -- who has not played in an NBA game since Jan. 14, 2022 -- said his recovery has been a long process, but he sounded encouraged following a third surgery on his knee since his last game.

really sucks for him. Hoping for the best for him, but i just don't think he's going to play basketball in the NBA again.

He's done. Best case scenario, he comes back and has like a Shaun Livingston late career role.

the way i, and i suspect a lot of other fans, perceive the Ball situation is that I don't have any animosity towards Lonzo, my anger is with the Bulls

Lonzo, for all the craziness his dad brings, actually seems like a good dude and was improving as a player... sucks for him, i really feel bad for him

I think he also lives in constant pain and has mobility trouble in his mid 20s.

I would take that deal every day.

Careful what you ask for!! No way I ask for $ over good health, especially as a young person.

Right, there's really no amount of money I'd take in my mid 20s to have to live with mobility issues and constant pain.

Eh, if it's cartilage issues, I suppose he could just get a replacement after his playing days are done. He'll have to get probably 1 more later in life at this age. Weighted against how many millions?

Trust me, it’s worse than it sounds.
If you’re in pain and can’t get comfortable at all during the day, no matter what you do, money is mostly irrelevant.

In his knee? They can't fix that?

Not to be morbid, but I'd be tempted if someone offered me 10-20 million to cut off my leg. He's guaranteed over 40M still..
