Now that you've let the madness sink in, what is your biggest takeaway from the game?

Aside from the fact that he is just an absolute monster and that that was the best 3:00 of basketball i've ever witnessed. I'm afraid we're going to go back to having rotation issues. I just dont want to lose games with a better lineup because Al doesnt know what the hell to do and add to it that he has his hands tied behind his back.

The team is so deep that no matter who he has out there, overall it's going to be a pretty good lineup and a lineup that can hang with anybody. But who's minutes are going to be reduced the most?

JJ - 28 mpg
Hart - 28
Etwaun - 21
Hayes - 20
Okafor - 16
Frank - 14
NAW - 14
Nico - 15
Kenny - 22

I think Kenny, when healthy, isnt getting anything, and its already happening with Jah. But Nico has to drop to the 8-10 mpg right? I think as far as impact player, Hayes and Etwaun take a hit as well. It looks like Franks time is increasing, ugh.

What say you?

I know or at least think the gameplan for the most part will be screen and rolls and Zion as a cutter and sometimes creating from the perimeter.

But after seeing how Pop played him and assuming he'll get similar treatment from most teams, I'd really like to see him parked right in the post with Lonzo feeding him nonstop.

Every time he touched the ball deep ish, he was met with an auto double team with a 3rd guy lurking. In the 1st half, we had great looks off of that that we just couldn't finish.

I' really like to see more of feeding him in the post as we go along. Seems if they dont' double, I don't know who can really stop/contain him, and teams will likely be forced to double.

I’d honestly be surprised if we didn’t make a trade. Kenny won’t play much if at all. Jah won’t either. Frank must play like Kobe in practice because for some weird reason he’s always playing in crunch time.

I saw a hip wiggle from Zion that I've only seen from a WICKED high-twitch athlete like Tyreek Hill.

To see a guy who's the size of a defensive end move like that blew my mind.

I only had one question: Why is Frank Jackson allowed into games?

I agree on frank, and have always said he needs to be nailed to the bench. However I think we will all be surprised at how well kenrich fits next to zion

The team fed him on the high post a lot last night. Didn’t have enough spacing to do much with it.

San Antonio sold out to cover the paint but we didn’t do too much to make them pay for it.

Favors benefits the most with Zion on the court. He was getting open looks in the paint every time Zion dives to the basket.

Zion had several opportunities to score from the dribble penetration of our guards but the lack of chemistry and Zion’s rust resulted in turnovers.

All in all It was a tough debut to have to go against a team like the Spurs. His athleticism will be overwhelming against Denver tomorrow. Hopefully he’s able to play 5-6 minutes spurts.

I know this really has nothing to do with the game itself but im pretty pissed off about how JVG and Jackson commentated on the game. Super unprofessional

It was pretty shitty.

The moment he went out, Jackson ranted for quite a while on him being out of shape and how he shouldn't have been drafted #1 overall.

I have two big takeaways:

1) Uncle Al is a terrible coach. He has no understanding of rotations, and throws shite at the wall. His play calling and timeout usage is suspect at best. Once he pulled Zion we went 4 straight possessions without scoring (part of that is on BI bricking 2 free throws). Can't win games when you have scoring droughts in the 4th.

2) If Zion, Zo, and Bi can all shoot 35% from 3, this offense will be one of the best in the league. The driving ability all 3 have coupled with their length create matchup problems all over the court.

My biggest takeaway from the game apart from Zion is that Lonzo wants to make Zion a great offensive force and he has the ability to be the anti-RJ Barrett. Zions biggest hurdle in college was RJ Barrett hogging the ball and ignoring Zion. I feel like a few times in this game Zion was caught off guard getting the ball because he’s so used to going long stretches without it in college.

Zion looks like a star that is easy to like. He laughs, doesnt take himself to seriously. He is a good and willing passer. He is willing to be the vocal leader. He is willing to take respinsibility. I think we have the makings of something special with this core group of young guys. Assuming BI truly likes NO like we are told, this core will make it to conference finals at a minimum (barring great injuries).

1) Uncle Al mismanages the clock worse than Les Miles. His rotations are awful. He has a 46% career win percentage and always looks stoned out of his mind

2) If Zion can be a 35-38% 3pt shooter, he will be a top 5 player in the league over the next decade

IMO, E’taun consistently seems to step up with a rebound
or a shot when we need it. He’s got to keep a few minutes.

That we should be committed to the future and developing our players and figuring out the roster, not concerned about chasing playoffs this year. I think Ingram should defend smaller players. He’s better at using his length to bother smaller guys when they get past him.

We should look to balance the roster and relieve ourselves of a guard (and Miller/Jah) at the trade deadline if a deal presents itself to acquire a 3/4 player who can defend.

We would have been halfway to a triple double if the guys would have knocked down some shots.

He is a much better passer than I realized.

It was the first time I had to check out of a thread bc of so many rantards. It was making the game miserable to me reading the posts.
