it would have to be a 3 team trade
Gordon and capela would have to go out

NBA radio this morning wanted to send Gordon/Capela into NOLA's cap space to make room for Jimmy.

Can you imagine the look on Gordon's face if he heard he was heading back to nola

What would Houston be giving us in addition to those two? Because they aren’t worth that damn much to us.

this is a good read on secondary free agents.

heres the blurb on randle
quote:

Julius Randle, PF, UFA I’ll be honest: I still don’t know exactly what to make of Randle. There’s so much to like on the offensive end of the floor. Last season, he turned in a career year in New Orleans: 21.4 points and 3.1 assists in 30.6 minutes per game, a surprising 34.4 percent mark from 3-point range on almost three tries a night, looking for stretches like an unguardable Juggernaut rampaging in the open court to the basket. And then, well, there’s the other end.

ESPN’s real plus-minus graded Randle as one of the least helpful big men in the league last season; opponents shot 64.7 percent at the rim with Randle contesting, which landed him 40th out of 48 bigs to defend at least four up-close tries a game. Even so, he had a positive on-court/off-court differential last season for the first time in his career, and at just 24 years old, with his résumé as a scorer and rebounder, someone’s going to pay to find out whether he can put it all together and become a star. It just might not be a very good team.

KD opts out.

quote:

Golden State Warriors star Kevin Durant has declined his $31.5 million player option and will become an unrestricted free agent, league sources told ESPN.

...Durant is still considering a number of scenarios in free agency, including a return to Golden State, league sources tell ESPN. The New York Knicks, Brooklyn Nets and LA Clippers are also believed to be considerations, sources said.

Durant, 30, can sign a four-year, $164 million deal with another team, and remains eligible to sign a five-year, $221 million deal with the Warriors.

before his achilles' last stand, i think everyone assumed he'd keep signing 1 or 2 plus 1 deals. anyone think that now he will want the long term deal?

I think Dolan and Ballmer would both bet on KD long term, he has to take the long term deal if it's there.

Asik is offocially medically retired. Bulls get an extra $3M in cap space, up to $23M.

I don't think we properly reflected on this at the time of the Niko to Milwaukee deal, but Demps/Ferry turned Asik and a 1st into a year of Niko and enough 2nds to more than equal a 1st.

You would think destiny would dictate a guy named Nerlens would play for the Pelicans at some point.

I've got to imagine his first thought every morning is "I can't believe I passed up on that $80M from Dallas".

Min extended a QO to Tyus Jones today. I'd like to target some RFA's on teams against the cap or who are chasing stars.

Sato is a prime target for me. Kleber is another target.
