I don't know how this works but how can this possibly be true if tomorrow is the date that these trades and signings will be processed?

NBA key offseason dates

The moratorium officially lifts on July 6, hence the trade will be considered executed as of that date.

They were SO sure they had him in the bag, now they are looking down the possibility of not only missing out on him but losing about $4-5m in cap space in the process.

Hell, who says AD can't still say "welp, since it won't get us Kawhi, I want my trade kicker" once the time comes. Nothing about the trade is official, after all. That would eat up even more Lakers cap room.

Depends on when the decision is made by Kawhi, or not.

That trade executing is what is going to take LA out of the equation and I don’t think they will be allowed to tweak it to re-add the locker at the last second. And even if they did, it limits who they can bring in this season, such as a player who can be used as trade bait come January.

I'm not sure that matters with rookies and summer league involved. I would think some teams would be on the phone with the commissioner if the Lakers try to hold this up too long.

I figure we would and definitely Atlanta would.

You know they want Hunter in Summer League. Part of why we structured the deal the way we did was so the 4th pick could be conveyed on 7/6 and be in Summer League.

Where did this delay in the trade talk come from?

The Lakers and Pelicans agreed to a July 6th date. No way that can be changed

He played like arse for the Clips but did shoot well the 14 games he played with the Grizz. He’ll probably get a call from the Lakers

Dwight Howard got traded to Memphis for CJ Miles. The Grizzlies are expected to cut him too.

This is a cost cutting move by Memphis as it saves them several million.

And no, we do NOT need Howard.

Just saw on bottom line that the teams are expected to move it back. Which would be dumb af on our part. I’d think at least one team would say no, I’d like our players with our team.

Why would any team do that? No one has any obligation to help the Lakers.

Ostensibly, teams are willing to help out other front offices within reason.

I have a feeling Pelinka will stretch “within reason”.
