That would be a reason they wouldn't agree.

Will be the dumbest move in nba front office history if we allow the lakers to move back trade. This trade would be absolute dogshit if Leonard is on the lakers.

It doesn’t matter how many transactions have to be reversed, the league is done if Leonard goes to lakers. Lakers will have to comply as we hold all the cards.

Dumbass downvoters that don’t know shite

This is why I’ve never understood the deal not being official right away. The NBA is crazy. Now being reported the lakers can push back the deal, how would they have say over that? They realized that mistake weeks ago and scrambled. There’s more than a handful of teams involved now. What happens if the trade just falls through, do we redraft?

They don’t have a say, the trade was already agreed upon. It will never be reversed if we put our foot down.

Yes but the article also states that the teams affected (Pels, Hawks, Wizards) are all willing to push back the deal. Why would we do that? That directly just helps the Lakers, there’s no benefit to us. Or any of the other teams for that matter.

It directly says if he doesn’t make his decision by noon, and we DONT all the deadline to be pushed back, then Lakers will lose Cap Space thus hurting them deeply.

You obviously do that if you can

Why in the world would we do that?

Disagree

Also, if we just told the Lakers nope, we agreed to the 6th and the 6th is it. If not the 6th, give us that final 1st rounder...if we said that, there is a 100% chance the Lakers make the deal tomorrow, so why would we not force them to do that?

There's no chance this thing falls apart, they would take the deal.

Yea I can’t understand this at all?

Sorry you’re cash strapped and hitched all your hopes to Kawhi’s wagon without a backup plan, but if it helps your cap situation out, we’ll push back the finalizing of the deal so you can clean up your mess a bit. Just cause we’re nice.

Makes zero sense. Why in the world would any team just help out another for the hell of it. Especially the Pelicans, whose future draft picks are directly tied to Lakers success

We're increasing the odds that our draft picks from LAL will be worse, just don't get it.

Only thing I can see is when the deal was reported, the next couple of days there were some whispers that the Pels were willing to be flexible. At the time we obviously didn't have any clue of how important that could be. So if we agreed to it at the time, we're just honoring our word. That's the only way it makes sense at all.

Have you guys forgotten how the league made us play AD? The league would rather it be our problem than theirs. This is probably a similar situation. They talked to the league and the league said figure it out yourselves.

Right, but we didn't have to kneel down here.

We could have said the 6th as we agreed so take it or leave it, or give us more to delay. And if worst case scenario happened, that would 100% be on the Lakers and not us.

If Kawhi is from CA, he's probably slept through quakes worse than 6.8 or whatever that was.
