The new requirements:

Puts DAL / HOU / ATL / MIA as the only sites in the southern Central/Eastern portion of the country as capable.

The ASG needs to cease to exist. It's terrible.

Unless they're scared players will start skipping, it's pretty dumb to tell half the league markets they're not good enough for the all-star game when they have a current crisis with trying to keep the all-star game relevant. Just having bigger celebrities sitting courtside because it's in NYC, LA, or Miami isn't going to breathe life back into allstar weekend.

That's dumb as shite, because we're a 1 hour connection from Atlanta, which quadruples those numbers.

Ever tried to get to Portland or Salt Lake City or Toronto or Memphis from a non-hub city?

I mean it’s easy to fix the flight numbers temporarily for that weekend….

Easier than the other 2 categories

Article about OKC

While I do see the requirements listed in the article, I find it hard to believe the NBA will never let NOLA host the Allstar game again because of their flights.

Everyone in the media and the NBA raves about the Allstar game in Nola, they'll find a way to make it work.

I thought International Flights require a contract and airfield capable of landing Jumbo planes. Im not too familiar with the new MSY. Anyone know if thats true?

This has to be a joke. NOLA is good enough for a Super Bowl but not the NBA All Star weekend? lol.

Nobody does big events as good as NOLA. The only one that comes close is Las Vegas

We've held multiple ASGs before and easily clear the first 2 metrics. I think they'll make an exception for Nola.

NOLA is good enough for the SuperBowl in 25. I think they can handle a lousy fricking NBA ASG

Doubt we will get another ASG without a new arena regardless of the ridiculous intl flight demands.

Funny you said that. INDY was the last host site given an exception. Mostly due to COVID.
