Noel talked to Kyle Tucker of The Courier-Journal on Sunday, and he told Tucker that the Cavs' team doctor checked out his knee during a visit to Cleveland last week. The diagnosis was very positive:

"The doctor said everything was perfect," Noel said. "All three teams I've been to said it looks 100 percent fine and I'm definitely ahead of schedule. It's all been positive feedback."

Noel has been touted as the stud of this draft off and on for about a year. If he falls to 6 it is probably a no brainer for the Pels FO. We don't have a future at the 5 as we sit now. Noel is light but he has shown the ability to put on the weight. Even so, a 5 can be on the light side when you have the leaping ability and wingspan that Noel does. Noel and Davis patrolling the line will pretty much cancel out the other team's ability to drive and score in the lane. People also assume they would be on the court at the same time, but that doesn't have to be the case. There is enough bigs to rotate that will keep "beef" on the floor.

That's great, but what's he going to say: "They've all told me my knee looks like shite. Do not take me for the love of God! I mean...uh...no take me seriously."

That's great.

Yeah, I seriously doubt any respected surgeon or doctor would say his knee looks "100 percent fine" when it is obviously not. I could buy "progressing nicely" and "ahead of schedule" isn't absurd, but fine? If it was 100 percent fine, he's be working out for teams...

Getting the most talented guy in the draft with the 6th pick?

Sounds good to me

I love when athletes/teams do things like this (Nebraska spring game, MLS team that held a scrimmage with a kid). It's such a simple gesture on their end, but it means so much to those kids.

Just to preface, I have no horse in this race. Don't particularly care whom they pick- all of thr guys mentioned would be fine with me.

To be fair, what type of skills are you looking for from a rookie big?

Noel can rebound, block shots, run the floor, and finish well at the rim- not to be overlooked as an offensive skill. He's light, but LARRY SANDERS is only 235 and he looks to be a force for years to come.

Any rookie big is a 3 year investment- even Davis.

Would he lie about what team doctors said when those teams still have the chance to draft him? Maybe but that would be pretty dumb on his part.

I think if people got a chance to see Noel over the course of the whole season, then it would be clear that Noel at 6 is absolute robbery in this draft.

To be honest, I wouldn't be too upset if we took Noel at 6. I really don't see him being of much use to the Pelicans, but it helps to be in a weak draft. I just think he and Bennett are bad fits for the direction of this franchise.

These are the only 2 NBA skills you listed. I'm sorry, but your 5 running the floor only does so much for you. They don't exactly leak out in a well-run defense. As for finishing well at the rim, we'll see. He'll be going against bigger defenders in the NBA. Blake Griffin finishes well at the rim, but he's still quite limited offensively.

I know that, but Davis isn't nearly the project, and at some point we need contributors. We don't want to be the Kansas City Royals of the NBA, a farm team for the big markets.

Everyone in this draft has a low floor if they don't work out

Burke could be a shorter Jerryd Bayless

McLemore could be a poor mans JR Smith

Len could be the second coming of Kostas Koufos

But I think Noel's floor is much higher than that. I think at the absolute worst he's Larry Sanders. And that would make him a top 3 shotblocker in the NBA and one of the best defensive players in the league.

And I can live with that with the 6th pick in a shitty draft

Obviously, you were serious when you said that. Let me break down your statement:

If that's his floor, what the frick do you think his ceiling is? GOAT?

Hes a center! They dont have an assembly line for centers with jump shots and back to basket games.

Rim running is one of the best and easiest ways to get points. Its a great skill to have. Now, will Monty quicken the pace is another story.

Not going to get sidetracked, but I respectfully disagree completely.

This team needs defense. Noel is the premier defensive big man. Even if he only cleans up garbage on offense, his defense will help the team this season

Well that was kind of my point

If he has a higher floor than everyone else that means at the minimum he'll atleast be decent

I didn't mention ceilings at all in my comment, you just inferred that from my post

But please, post some more emoticons as a reply to make up for the fact you struggle with forming coherent and convincing arguments and obviously lack in some basic reading comprehension skills
