Rougarou ... Say it out loud a few times. You can't do it without laughing. But it wold be great. Much better than Pelicans.

Looks like on that same day somebody filed to trademark New Orleans Brass LINK
Somebody with more legal expertise might know what "Published for Opposition - January 22, 2013" means.
Did a quick google search of the guy who filed and it looks like some shady New Orleans attorney who did prison time a few years ago.

Most likely that is someone trademarking the logo and colors so Benson can't use it without his/her consent.

I would think it were a joke if Seattle went with that name when they get a team again. People would view Rougarou similarly...if they even knew WTF a Rougarou was.

I don't really care for the Pelicans, but the rest of the names on that list sound like a 4th grader picked them...
