Ex pel and great guy hate to see it. But no Adams and no Ja will be hard start for Memphis

No Adams. No Ja for 25 games. Lost the bear5 backup PG in the NBA.
I'm seeing a step back for Memphis this season.
In these 1st 25 games, who the heck is scoring the ball outside of Bane?

Maybe we could swing some kinda deal that would end up sending Val to Memphis...

No Clarke as well. If they have any shot they need guys like Lofton, Aldama and Roddy to step up.

If I recall, Steven Adams wasn't even starting or playing much at all for them at the end of last year.

He was a starter averaging 27 mpg until he went down with a knee injury in January and missed the rest of the year. He was also the starter the year before averaging 26.3 mpg, playing in 76 games (75 starts).
They didn't suffer greatly without him, but they weren't quite as dominant either.
They only lost 11 games in which Adams and Ja played (winning roughly 75% of those).

They struggled against bigger teams in the paint. Hence losing to the lakers. Also why I hope we can take advantage. To top if off no Ja very much limits their scoring.

he’s one of the most important players on their team in the regular season. He’s been pretty essential to their success.
Can’t play much in the playoffs though.

To compensate they moved JJJ to center after he went down, but Tillman and Aldama were definitely a step down filling in. JJJ is better as a forward, so that also weakens them having him play "out of position", imo.
I really see them struggling to start the season for both reasons(Adams and Ja).

Adams did a lot of little things for them that helped them win a lot of games.
Good rebounder, interior defender, passer. Sets amazing screens.
Good regular season player.

I agree postseason is about matchups, but he was also hurt during the 2022 playoffs, while being out during the 2023 playoffs.
Him not playing as much does not equal him not playing in certain playoff matchups. They need him in the playoffs as well, especially against certain teams where he would play more.
Just saw where they went from 2nd in rebounding and offensive rebounding % last year to 25th and 22nd when he went down. Having that hole for a whole year instead of half a year will take a toll.
Also JJJ playing out of position for a whole year as well. I think they might be lucky to be in the play in at the end. They have to adjust to life without Ja for a quarter of the season, and then it will take time to work him back in.

And also, with Ja out 25 games, you're probably looking at Ja playing under 50 games this season. Part of the reason they've done so well without Ja the last 2 seasons was having the best backup PG in the NBA in Tyus Jones. He's also gone now. I assume DRose will be the backup which is a massive downgrade. Rose looked washed and not even NBA caliber last season albeit in limited minutes...and he also likely won't play 50 games this season.

Forgot they lost Jones as well. That will be a HUGE hole.
And yeah the Clarke thing hurts as well. Takes away another big option.

I'd take Jones any day over Marcus Smart.
I did not understand that trade at all. Jones will be something like a 17 and 8 dude this season, he's really good.

JJJ can't hold up a whole game against big centers such as Jokic or JV. In the season opener, we'll just feed JV on post-ups, Zion will attack the rim, and JJJ will have two fouls in the first four minutes of the game and will sit down.

Lofton’s apparently a fricking sumo wrestler right now. I don’t see him having good legs on the court carrying all that weight.

Disagree. He’s pretty unplayable in the playoffs.
Can’t make FTs and teams can easily gameplan him off the floor. Teams will pick and roll him to death

To add to Memphis woes, in the tell all article ESPN released a few days ago it said they brought in Smart and Rose hoping they would be some good influences on Ja, but they both said they’re not there to babysit him.
That team maybe falling apart and I wouldn’t be surprised to see them fall out of the playoffs/play-in with the west this stacked

I think it was two fold- he’s defensively replacing brooks and to be a leader/mentor to Ja. I dont agree with the move but kind of get the reasoning.

Agreed he is extremely foul prone but the worry will be him shooting 3s. Jonas will struggle to defend it. Here’s hoping he gets into foul trouble.
