And this could also be completely meaningless for us. There is still a world where NONE of MIL/ IND/ Pels are in the lottery and yet everyone just wants to ignore that.
agreed chances are we don’t land top 4 and I can talk myself into not being upset about the pick being in 6-10. At least the bucks look like they’ll be a playoff team as of now.

And that pacers pick was top 4 protected as well

What would the risk be other than a roster spot? He wouldn't count against your cap at all, right?

It’s the roster spot and whether anyone thinks Dames has anything left in the tank.

They don’t necessarily want a Westbrick out there.

Yes.

The East has serious issues. An Indy team minus Turner and Haliburton still probably makes it.

Agreed. Rick Carlisle has coached for 23 seasons. He's only missed the playoffs 7 times.

After last season I didn't want another season of tanking. As a fan it sucks rooting for your team to lose, then get the outcome that most media people said was near impossible to actually happen.

I’ll bet he is fricking elated…110MM over 5 years and he can go back to Portland. Expect them to sign him to a two year deal momentarily

There will be teams lining up to take a flyer on Lillard. The questions is what is he willing to sign for. If he’s willing to go team friendly dollar wise, he can pick his spot.

We didn't need 19 pick and a future one obviously. We wanted Queen and a guard (Fears, Johnson, Knueppel) this year. If that was the right call, only time will tell.

The gamble is all worth it if their scouting thinks fears and queen can become solid starters.

The issue is the lack of safety net in the event worst case scenario comes up.

There is no "lack of safety net"

Murray/ Zion/ Herb/ Poole are our safety net. You are looking at 7+ 1st rd picks between those players if we blow it up.

And you still have:

Fears
Poole/ Bey
Trey
Queen
Missi

There's a legit scenario where Poole/ Queen/ Missi/ Fears all go off and boom that's our core with Trey. And we still have 5-6+ additional 1sts.

He's saying that teams #9,#10,#11, and #12 turned down the offer. It wasn't offered starting at #13.
Which is pure BS. I laughed when I heard that. There is no way that he made that same offer. Maybe he made lesser offers and eventually got desperate at 13. It was well publicized that Toronto wanted out of 9 and Portland traded down for less to take a guy that almost everyone had projected as a mid 2nd.

According to McNamara, who has ATL connections, we offered Atlanta a top 10 protected 2026 pick with 23 a few days before the draft. I like to assume it dropped to top 4 protected and ATL still wasnt biting. But who knows. Queen better be good
What probably made it tougher is that we kept Graham on staff until right before the draft so he had inside knowledge of how much we loved Queen and how desperate Joe would be to get him.

Do you honestly think we could get 7+ 1st rounders for Murray, Herb, Poole and Zion? Murray would have to come back very strong mid season to even be a player we would not have to attached a pick to dump.

With that level of player valuation we’re a sure 55 plus win team right?

Yep. You know Graham and the Atlanta draft room had to be laughing about taking advantage of dumb Joe Dumars.

This is good news. Milwaukee is improving, so more than likely not in the lottery. Moving on from Lillard helps them this season when he’s injured anyway, and obviously Turner is a good Center.
