Agreed. That’s like saying Trey Murphy isn’t good to start. CJ can maximize his scoring on the bench. I feel like you really don’t see much diffeeence in minutes from starter and bench. Look at Naz Reid and Dereck Lively. If he wants to get traded, I can see us signing Tyus Jones for half the price and CP3 for vet leadership.

This is all a pretty silly argument. CJ is our best 3pt shooter. He will be starting on this team until he's traded.

If we keep BI, I can see him going to the bench tbh. Willie Green is as defensive minded guy and he’s not going to put herb on the bench. Murphy is a great 3 point shooter and he’s on the bench. But if BI is traded I can see herb going to the 3 and CJ at the 2.

One thing I think alot of people are missing in all this is CJ is VERY smart. He will likely look at the bench and see we have zero ball handling and know he would be better suited coming off the bench to solidify that unit. He’s making his money, CJ wants to win more than anything, and if coming off the bench to help the young guys gives the best chance of that, I think he would suggest it himself

Jose will be our 9th-10th man at best mext season, much like he has been his whole career. You need someone capable of giving you 30 minutes a night as a ball handler off the bench, Jose is not that guy, he’s more of a 15 mpg high energy guy, anything over that and his effectiveness usually starts dropping. We’ve seen it before.

If you watched his comments about klay coming off the bench you wouldn't say that.

I have not seen them. Care to elaborate?

I wouldn’t say he’s very smart. The CBA they agreed to is trash. Especially if you draft well. Also this is why you can’t sign BI to the contract he wants.

I can't remember if it was first take or not, but it was basically him saying klay earned a starting position based off his past work and players in the league hate being relegated to the bench. Something to that affect.

YOu'd be wrong.
NBA players who have started their whole career don't ever want to come off the bench. ANd CJ literally just talked about how much GSW disrespected Klay not starting him.
CJ is not coming off the bench. He needs to be the one traded, but Griff isnt' goign to do that.

One thing that caught my ear that may have been missed was CJ saying Klay was benched in favor of a rookie. That’s probably where he feels the disrespect came in.

If you can’t beat out a rookie while you are on a $50m contract, you don’t get sympathy.

They asked him to come off the bench because they needed bench scoring.

Context being… GSW started a rookie over him. A frickING ROOKIE OVER KLAY MF’N THOMPSON!
I think it’s a completely different situation in New Orleans. By all means I think the plan is to start CJ next to DJM but him coming off the bench would be a strategic play to keep him fresh for the postseason. Regardless if he starts or not his minutes has to come down this season.
What lineups are playing the majority of the minutes together is way more important than who is penciled in as the starter.

Except for Val, Coach Green gives starters significant minutes. Team is still imbalanced, favoring wings. Losing Dyson and maybe Naji too they still need to trim to keep Herb and TM3 on the floor, as well as, get time for Hawk.

I like CJ but as good as he is, hes not in the category of Klay, CP3 or even Westbrook. Those guys have accomplished a lot more in their careers and its not even close. Asking CJ to come off the bench shouldn’t be this big of a deal. Again if it is you trade him.

If tweet fails to load, click here. They’re leaving plenty of time to expand it now
If they do have to send someone else out hopefully its JRE over Ryan

And none of them are as good as CJ was last year.
