So, we were after this guy before the Boogie injury, right?

I can understand Monroe wanting to come home, but would he really come for the minimum? I mean, the man was making $17.5 before the buyout, right? Does Boston not have cap room to offer him more?

If he thinks he'll get more minutes here than Boston, he might decide to play at a discount for the rest of the year to set himself up for a bigger contract in 2018-2019.

He needs to go somewhere to showcase his ability for his next contract. The Pelicans give him the best opportunity to do that

I don't think they will. He just got paid - he just wants to play because he'll be UFA this summer. More minutes = more opportunity to showcase. We can offer him 20+ minutes. I don't think anyone else will.

Most NBA draft picks are garbage. Even a top 5 pick is just as likely to bust as not.

Asik is hot garbage also. He still has at least one more year on his deal. Mirotic is young.

I don't get it.

Does Monroe's buyout include an offset?

Malcontent + hoarding picks. They want to build around Markkanen, Dunn, LaVine - Asik is actually playing now and has had reasonable success in Chicago. Allen & Nelson are expirings. So they actually cut salary for 18-19 and got a pick doing it.

Ok, that makes sense but I don't think hoarding mid-late round 1sts does shite. It's not like the NFL where you can bundle those for a higher one. They're still shite picks.

Any chance Mirotic plays tomorrow night?

Doesn't matter. They're picking high with their own pick. They just turned a 12.5 million distraction into a potential role player on a rookie deal.

Have to imagine Mike James will be up with the squad in place of Jameer and may actually get some minutes unless they just shift those minutes to Clark/rondo

I'd say highly unlikely. He has to get with the team and then usually traded players like to get a practice in first.

Gotcha. I’m just gonna chalk the thunder game up as an L. 27-24 in bound. I’m glad we got this trade done rather quickly, gotta stop the bleeding.

We probably lose these next two. I would think Mirotic (and hopefully Moose) will likely debut Monday at home against the Jazz. Getting the trade done early lets him (them) play vs the Jazz, Pacers, Sixers, and Nets compared to if we waited until Feb 8th to make the trade.

Why is he getting Asik's number? Can we not get this man a new jersey?

I figured we would have retired Omer's number. Weird.
