Their argument would be, "We are going to win, but that might take a little bit of time. In the meantime, get butts in the seats with a name"
Trust me, I hear all the arguments you guys are making and agree with them. But imagine being a ticket rep in August and you are calling people. As much as you and I know that the needle will get moved more over time with flexibility, picks, etc than Kevin Love or Blake Griffin -- that ticket rep can say, "Jrue, Tatum, and Blake Griffin" or he can say "Jrue and Tatum"
And the latter will not sell as many tickets to casual fans as the former.

Let’s be real. Any basketball fan can understand why Blake Griffin “could” make sense. No one in their right mind wants to touch the Kevin Love deal.

What about this compromise --- Stay young and relatively unknown with the roster and throw money and power to a name coach to use to sell tickets??

Tatum, Brown, a 1st and Brad Stevens for AD and Hill.

I get that, but they've had trouble selling Anthony fricking Davis to the casual fan. The times when season tickets have spiked have been when we were good (or supposed to be). We had one of the most electrifying stars in the league for going on 7 years and there were STILL struggling to sell tickets approaching opening day. The nola market has spoken and a "big" name and no wins doesn't sell here.
I'll admit that blake would be the type of name that may draw in the casual fan, but I just cannot get on board with a "we have to get Kevin Love or Mike Conley to sell tickets "

Would said coach come with a binder or PowerPoint?

This board sure does hate Klove. I always thought he was kind of soft and sometimes under performs but reading this board you would think straight scrub.

He's been battling injury after injury for going on what feels like 4 years now. Hasn't put together a full high caliber season since midway through the Obama administration.

And Denzel aint the actor he was back in the day, but he still sells tickets to shitty movies

Rozier
Jrue
Tatum
Love
Good defensive big who helps with Loves defense liability.
Smart
frank
Niko
pels pick
Kings pick
Trade Clippers pick for Love
Thats a good team that I would go watch.

I have a really bad feeling you’re trying to warn us of impending doom.

frick the ticket reps. They'll make up whatever sales they lost in 1.5 years by building a team correctly. It's literally the same thinking as before, which didn't work, but now they think it'll magically work with a lesser star than AD.
This isn't difficult. It's straight-forward. Here's your function:
Ticket sales = wins(x)
A name will matter for the first ten games of the season. Once we see they suck, ticket rep will say "i can't sell cause no one wants to watch shite basketball."
And I know we agree, so I'm more venting than anything else.

I am frustrated too. My hope? They can't land a name, so they are forced to go into the season without one. Then, they start winning, fans love the team and they don't have to go get a name. Or Tatum becomes one.
Thats what I am hoping for personally.

Crewz you sound 75-80 percent sure this trade will be with celtics... Is that what you're thinking?
Posted on 1/30/19 at 6:45 pm to Sharp85
I think the only possible way it's not the Celtics is if they tell us to hold off until the summer, we do and then they screw us with a lowball offer knowing we don't like the lakers assets and NYC doesn't want to take a risk on AD leaving after giving us everything else worth having on that team.

Season ticket sales are about to tank, and i doubt they ever recover to what they were this year. This fan base is tired of getting teased with going to the 2nd rd of the playoffs every 10 years. They aren't buying in again like they did this year.
