re: Pelicans will introduce new EVP David Griffin on Wednesday @12:45 CT

1. Jrue was first player he mentioned.
2. Best thing for the franchise is for AD to stay long term. Everyone will get over it when he puts up a 40-20, and he says the issue wasn't the city, it was the season they were having + not trusting Dell Demps to build the right team around him.
3. We'll never get fair value in return for AD.
Morant is getting too overhyped. Kris Dunn was once hyped. So was Markelle Fultz and Lonzo Ball. It's tough to predict these things. Tatum's far likelier to get into star territory, but no question he's regressed.

Tatum sucking this season just means Boston has to add more to the pot.

I don't know much about Langdon's background, but one thing that the new gm must have experience with is trade negotiation. This AD trade is too important to entrust to someone with no experience on that front.
I wouldn't assume the Lakers trade us the top pick if they land at #1. I think there's a chance that could actually wind up hurting us. From their perspective, they just need to wait 12 months and they can pair Zion and AD w/LeBron without having to give up anything. This gives them a present + future.

Not sure if this is what you're asking about, but each number in the cell is the % chance that team gets that selection.
So for each team, if you add up all their percentages for each slot they can land at, it should equal 100%. Therefore, the chances of getting top 4 is just adding their chances at 1, 2, 3 and 4.

re: Bill Simmons insinuates Gayle is a clueless gold-digger

Simmons isn't a true NBA analyst. He's someone who people like to hear talk about basketball because he likes to come up with theories on things.
He's not going to know the ins and outs of every team. In this case, most of New Orleans knows that Rita owning the Saints & Pelicans was our worst case situation, and that Gayle was our best case.
I'm actually not sure if most know.
Based on your take, I think you need to learn reading comprehension. We're discussing someone of Barrett's prospect ranking, we're not talking about all prospects.
Tatum is definitely a better piece than Barrett. You know Tatum can flat out ball at the NBA level and is more likely than not to register multiple All-Star appearances. There's nothing in the Barrett game that would have you believe he can ball at the NBA level - I mean that just from the standpoint he hasn't done it yet and you're more likely to flop than to be Tatum.
The only question is whether Tatum will be included in a deal. The whole reason we're in this debate is strictly because Tatum has been so good that there's a concern the Celtics won't include him.
If Barrett turns into Tatum, that's a huge win for whoever drafts him.

1. I'm not disagreeing with pushing Boston to commit. That's definite.
2. The Knicks would be idiots to not do a deal whether it's now, later, or a year from now. We're taking their 'last place in the entire NBA' assets in exchange for a hall of famer.
3. Even in a world where the Knicks suddenly don't want to be relevant again and want to play hardball with Demps, what are we talking about? Them taking what off the table? Some non-lottery 1st rounder off the table? AD in the east is in the playoffs guaranteed.
He's one of the youngest, but not THE youngest.

Why in the world would you entertain the idea of giving AD to Knicks now and automatically moving down 3 spots in the draft?
The Knicks offer pivots around whoever the Pelicans have as the best player in the draft. Without that, the offer is garbage. There's literally nothing in the Knicks offer that you would ever gamble on. You think Knox is going to turn into something? I'll bet any of you any amount of money that Knox never makes an all-star game. He didn't even crack the rising stars roster for all-star weekend, and now he's supposed to be some sort of valuable asset that can be included in a package for a Hall of Fame 25-year-old MVP caliber big man?
Knox doesn't even average 1 assist per game. Can't get one? Y'all need to stop fricking around.
This is not considered a loaded class by any means. Even at the top.
I've read long before any of this that AD and Kyrie are friends and would like to play together.
So the thinking in some circles is that Celtics need to make a trade for AD in order to lock in Kyrie staying.

frick the ticket reps. They'll make up whatever sales they lost in 1.5 years by building a team correctly. It's literally the same thinking as before, which didn't work, but now they think it'll magically work with a lesser star than AD.
This isn't difficult. It's straight-forward. Here's your function:
Ticket sales = wins(x)
A name will matter for the first ten games of the season. Once we see they suck, ticket rep will say "i can't sell cause no one wants to watch shite basketball."
And I know we agree, so I'm more venting than anything else.
New Orleans is a poor city and the only way to get people to the games is via winning. That's it. There's no marketing that's going to save this team. There's no all-star reserve with a name that's going to save this team. It's going to come down to straight winning games. Lose for a year and a half and then you're good to go for the next 10 years.

Blake Griffin to the Pelicans completely kills this team. That's one of the most handcuffing salaries in the NBA. Under no circumstances should there even be consideration of this.
The NBA wants AD on a super team. They don't care what market it's in. The Pelicans need to figure out a way to get a star player here or AD is gone.

I'm not sure Boogie fits that description; no one wanted him. In KD's case, he could have gone anywhere he wanted.

Either way, we got saved. His market value was 5-10 million and we were about to pay 40mil for at most a year and a half.

I'm being paranoid, but I wouldn't want this news getting out.
