They've lost 4 straight in a very tight western conference race. 1 lost could be the difference between 3rd and 8th(play in).

Denver was in like 2nd place a minute ago - now they are falling after going 3-7 in the last 10

Last 3 games - Kings, Memphis, Rockets

As tight as the west is, there is a very good chance Denver falls to the play in

I could see a meeting about that resulting in someone saying something that would get them fired.

If we were a serious franchise, Griff would be fired too. He’s done nothing in 6 years of being in charge.

He’s done less with being given more than any gm I can think of.

My favorite Griff stat is that he has more years of service than the franchise has playoff wins. 6 to 5

Help

Supposedly Willie was a Trajan/Swin pick after Griff got sidelined for screwing up so badly with SVG. I know everyone is trained to assume the worst with this team, but Trajan is gone and I don't think Griff is attached to Willie like some fear.

Denver's overall talent simply is not that great.

It's Jokic and Murray (when healthy) and that's it. The rest are talented but massively inconsistent players like MPJ.

The GM rested on his laurels after they wont the title, and they have no depth with an injury prone team.

Jokic won a title with less talent around him than pretty much any LeBron team in his career 2004.

Malone is just a scapegoat, which is sad. Reminds me of Budenholzer getting fired by Milwaukee for the same reasons. Super star player with a bunch of injury prone guys and them trading their best secondary player (Jrue). But the injuries just are not something anyone can manage if you continually have injury prone players as prominent on your team.

My fear is not necessarily that he is attached to Willie, but that he is so incompetent that he does not think Willie needs to be replaced. Griffin is the king of excuses and could give Willie yet another chance.

Really bizarre move, why not wait until after the season to make this move? Who is going to be a better coach for Denver in the playoffs this year?

I was thinking the same when Jenkins was fired. Now, apparently Malone is the top choice, but perhaps if we wait few more weeks Spo or Joe Mazzulla will be available :)

The top decision makers in Nola like Mike Malone?

Get rid of the top decision makers in Nola first, and if they like Mike Malone I’ll ride with that.

Obviously the ownership thinks they didn't build a good enough roster.

Agreed. Why are we allowing Griff to pick his 4th coach? He’s done nothing but burn assets and pick shite coaches for 6 years

Great journalism, Fletch. An NBA franchise likes a championship winning coach. Tell us more.
