My nightmare scenario if we trade for #8 is the draft falling out something like this:

1- Zion
2- Morant
3- Barrett
4- Culver
5- Hunter
6- Garland
7- White
8- ???

Then you're left staring Cam Reddish in the face. You could take Sekou, Hayes, or Clarke I guess but I don't like those guys nearly as much as I like Culver, Garland, and White.

I'd prefer to just keep #4.

If we don’t get a offer that blows us away, just keep 4 and take Garland or Culver in my opinion

I like Culver/Garland/Hunter/White but if we traded back to #8 and none are there, Sekou and Hayes are still on the board and worthy of the pick.

And since I have Zion, I look at Hayes and see a guy that could be his running mate for a very long time.

I've become pretty enamored with Jaxson Hayes recently especially with his fit with Zion.

Man I kind of hope we trade down some at take a chance with Bol.

Bol is criminally underrated. He is the best shooter in the draft, and it's not even close. People point to the small college sample size, but he shot 50% from 3 throughout all the high school all star tournaments. His mid range is as automatic as a Steph Curry free throw.

Even if he never develops as a defender, he will be better by year two than Porzingis is now.

NBA talent is very different than high school and college. Slow-footed guys like Bol Bol and Thon Maker do not fair well in this league

the only difference is if he's a game changing 3 ball shooting talent. Maker is not.

Yep, the kid played with a jacked up thumb (torn ligament) on his shooting hand most of the year and still put up good numbers. He risked his draft stock to be a team player. He'd be the perfect trade down target.

Does Langford compare to Frank Jackson?

look I could be completely wrong about Bol Bol, I'm just not a fan at all. even if he's a talented shooter, I need him to rebound too and when he was measured at the combine he was 208 pounds. a strong wind will keep him out of the paint at that size

Even in his prime, Nowitzki was the slowest footed player in the league. And he was still one of the top 10 players of his generation. Bol has an unstoppable shooting ability. Anything else he develops is just gravy.

Jackson is confined to the guard spots while Langford can play the wing at 6-6 with a big wingspan.

I don’t want Reddish with any pick.
I would be very happy with Hayes at 8 or 10 and I think he can become a really special player. Very raw, super athletic, and a good free throw shooter so he may be able to expand his range over time.
I do not want to reach for Langford or Little or Porter, but I’d love to take a flyer on one of them if we traded down to Indy and got #18.

1st, I’ll admit I haven’t watched many of these guys and have just read up on them. But I don’t think we should be looking for a ‘fit’ right now. I think we should take the BPA and accumulate as many assets as possible.

It’s sounds like Garland is the best pure scorer and could be a special player, so I think he’s the take if we pick at 4. Even though he’s not a need at all.

For the same reason, I wouldn’t mind getting Bol if we trade back. He wouldn’t likely be a starter, but we can see if he develops and if not, trade him in a few years for a late pick or something.

I now think that it's unlikely that we actually draft the #4 pick. My understanding is that there is still about $18 million in salary cap room left in the AD trade (which this pick is part of). If we trade the pick for a player with a cap hit of $18 million or less, that won't affect our cap availability.

Fisher threw out some ideas:

Replace with turner if possible

Some sort of extra pick added too I'd assume

The pelicans draft board does not look like pelicans talk. His many professional drafts do we have to go thru on here between the saints & Pels before people realize this

It’s way more expansive than the guys a message board always focus on. Always is.

2-3 of those guys won’t be picked in the top 8.
