Some clown said the Magic, Suns, Bulls are interested in Jrue. Would you trade him for a top 5 pick?

I’m not even going to pretend to think about this scenario because it’s nowhere close to being plausible. As good as Jrue has been, be isn’t worth anything close to a top 5 pick

Honestly I think that Holiday should have more value than Davis..

Most of those teams would rather Morant, so we're likely talking about pick 3-7. But it's really a moot point because I see Jrue as here to stay.

I wouldnt trade Jrue. The Suns hit the jackpot in Booker and have lots of good prospects behind him and still arent close to competeting. The full rebuild rarely works.

For me, the X factor is the 2020 and 2021 drafts.

So, let's say you do a deal with the Knicks and get Ja, Knox, Robinson, filler, and a ton of picks for AD. Suns or Bulls get #4 and offer that for Jrue.

I'd much prefer Jrue to Culver. BUT that team would be an instant contender for top picks in 2020 and 2021 while giving a ton of minutes to a Ja- Culver- Knox- Robinson core to develop.

I don't know if ownership would have the patience, but that team could have the best core in the NBA in 2021 with a ton of cap room and future picks.

If it falls that way, I'd consider it

I think we are also forgetting the value of learning how to close and win NBA games. Look at the value the Nets players are getting at the moment compared the Bulls young players or Suns. Nets are doing it right, Boston did it right. Strong chance we start the season with Randle and Jrue. Dont know why we would want to go backwards for a future rebuild that might/ might not work.

You want some form of veteran leadership.

You can go out and buy that. Go grab Rubio in free agency, sign Marc Gasol , overpay Shaun Livingston for 2 years, etc

The X factor for me is that I really love some guys in the 2020 and especially 2021 draft. There are future MVPs in those drafts.

Again, I don't think ownership would go for the full rebuild, but my point is that when you think of a Jrue trade, you can't think of it in a vacuum. Its not #4 in 2019 for Jrue. You'd have to think of it as #4 for Jrue PLUS moving up from pick 12 to 2 in the 2020 draft and from 18 to 4 in the 2021 draft. In theory.

It depends on the trajectory of the long term plan Griffin has in mind (immediate contender, mix of vets and young guys, total youth movement) but I absolutely hate the idea of flipping Jrue for what I see as insufficient assets when I think he should be either the cornerstone player or the #2 guy.

If we are doing that, Griffin better have a good plan for what to do with all the cap space opened up in the 2020-2021 offseason because, as of now, we wouldn’t have anyone under contract if we moved AD and Jrue.

And maybe you use that cap space to do what the Nets and other smart teams do -- take on bad contracts to get D'Angelo Russell. Or to get the pick that gets you Levert.

Bucks and Nets brought in Jared Dudley for the leadership component. It could fail, of course. Every path can.

But you can trade AD and Jrue and when you combine that with your own pick in the 2019 draft, and all the assets and flexibility you will have, you can easily have the most talent rich young team in the NBA by a mile by the summer of 2021.

Crewz, What is your opinion on Jamal Murray? I could see Nuggets throwing the chips in. I think he has the potential to be elite NBA scorer. His game checks all the boxes.
How would you rank Tatum, Murray, and Russell from the Nets?Which of the threes game would compliment Jrues game the best?

We called Nugs and asked for Jokic AND Murray. They obviously said no, but I think they would do that with a guarantee from AD that he will re-sign but AD wouldn't do that, so that would stop the deal.

I like Murray and have always thought he is the exact type of guard you'd want next to Jrue. I would personally prefer Craig in the deal over Barton. But again it won't happen because AD wouldn't commit or even give a strong indication that he would consider it

Feels like this thing will end up being decided between Celtics and Knicks with Lakers as a outside chance if the ping pong balls fall right for them.
