An unofficial poll of executives in Chicago also suggests Pelicans wing Brandon Ingram will have a wider range of teams interested in acquiring the one-time All-Star, as compared to Young, should New Orleans truly explore a roster shake-up of that magnitude.

This I did not expect.

Also says in the article that teams will be patient while monitoring Trae Young’s availability including Pelicans. Also says the rumored interest from San Antonio is not existing

But he's only worth a role player or two and 2 non lottery firsts.

This is why we shoudn't be settling with this trade. BI has been forced to be the #1 over here for 5 years, and he's not a #1. That doesn't mean he sucks. He's going to be a good #2 or even #3 for a really good team after this trade.
No one gives a shite about what he did in the last 6 games but people on this board.
He's a guy who's thought of as a top 30 guy in the league, at a premier position with premier size and skill.

But sure lets just trade him for Jarrett Allen b/c Allen is worth more than him.
I noticed Gobert did so well against Jokic last night. That defensive center position with no offense is such an important piece to a team that has no wing scorer to replace the one they are trading away.

You’re taking the wrong thing from this.

The right thing is that David Griffin is doing excellent work currently. He is def good at this part of the game.

It doesn’t say they think Ingram is more valuable than Trae, just that there will be more interested teams.

Makes sense as not many teams have interest in a small ball dominant guard. Ingram is a long wing that ostensibly won’t cost as much as Trae.

I didn’t say he was more valuable, nor did I say the article said that.

Limited to characters on title, so what i said was the best I could think of, however I would have expected more teams to be interested in Young than Ingram

BI is worth a lot more than any of you thought. That's what I take away from it.

We shoudl be using that to our advantage to upgrade our #1 perimeter player position, not gathering more frickign assets in role players and shitty picks and continuing to wait for a chance to sign that #1 perimeter player we desperately need to pair with Zion.

Exactly why I think swapping Ingram for Trae is just a no brainer on our end, even if we have to add picks

It just means Ingram is much more reasonable to trade for than Trae. Young will require more assets to land.

Who can you pair BI with that would compliment his skill set? Serious question. I’m not being a dick….this time. I think he’s talented at his skill set. I just don’t think his skill set translates to wins in the current NBA.

It does but the ceiling is the first round. Its like the bulls who center everything around Derozan- whos a better version of BI- they always lose in the play-in or early in the playoffs.

I don't even think it means that. Trae has a toxic locker room reputation, and many would argue he's overrated as player. There are just a lot of red flags around Trae that will limit the teams that are interested.

The GMs that will go after Trae will probably be the type that are blinded by optimism and love buying at a discount...

Whose the guy that kept arguing with me yesterday that Trae was going to take a huge ‘star’ package to obtain. I tried to say it should take BI and not much more to get. The definition of buying low. Show yourself…

Said the same thing when I said we should have traded for Lauri years ago and for Spyder when the Jazz traded him and no one wanted to listen then… Good players with the chance to add at an all time low value.

We will see.

He wasn’t.

Griffin might do a good job of rehabbing his all time low value though.

In a vacuum, yes, BI fits the bill more so than Tre Young.

But we have Zion, and Tre is the best lob, pick, and role setup guy in the league and shoots a ton of 3s. This is more of a fit thing, and I've been a guy that's on BI. But T fits much more with Zion than Bi.

I don’t think it’s a question Trae is a great fit. Problem is what do you do with CJ? If we can win this trade Geoff needs the nuts to do it and trade CJ and the whole warchest if necessary to get a really good 5 and role that out with Trae Herb Trey Zion elite 5. Just go all in now mentality

As it's been said a bunch, many Pels fans are being too emotional and vastly undervaluing what we can get for BI in a trade.

Read the exact wording again. He could also have more suitors because:

He will cost way less because he’s worth way less

Or

Trae’s value is so bad it’s worse than Brandon Ingrams, which is also terrible.

Hes also technically an expiring unlike Trae who is locked into a big deal.

I know everyone thinks BI has to agree to a long term deal wherever he goes. But technically he can just go to another team and be flipped later on. I think that makes a huge difference for certain teams.

The extremes of posters are crazy

All the way from Allen has more value than BI on one end to Allen may only be worth one 2nd round pick on the other end.
