re: It pains me watching Jrue be a perfect complimentary piece to a title team again

Yeah, how dare the pels trade for a Jrue Holiday whose team lied about his injury.
How dare the pels swing for the fences and get cousins only for him to tear his Achilles after going on an 8 game win streak
How dare the Pels draft Mr. Glass AD whose baby momma told him to leave the team right after making the 2nd round of the playoffs with Jrue.
We just suck as a franchise lol. Why didn't we draft Tatum and Brown with back to back top 3 picks and hit on both? It's so simple!

i agree with the overarching point of your post, but i don't think it's a coincidence that well run orgs like the Celtics end up with good rosters more often times than not

Boogie, AD and Jrue were great together. That team gave us a reason
to be hopeful…

There has been a lot of "oof" time in Boston between their last 2 titles and like 20 years between the 2 prior.
Boston is also in a major market with more revenue and richer owners, but a more desirable location. We are literally in the bottom 3-4 of desirable locations in the NBA, and our owner is cash poor (the vast majority of her inherited wealth is from owning sports franchises).

...that's not what I was saying at all.
As usual, you missed the mark.

Lol wut? You're going way off the reservation here.

Or maybe I'm just pointing out that the celtics got incredibly lucky by hitting on b2b top 3 picks, which never happens

Baw, we've gotten lucky with two lottery wins in a decade.
You have to capitalize on the luck. We haven't.

Two lottery wins with players made of glass and one with commitment issues. How much of our issues are not capitalizing on luck vs absolutely god awful injury luck?

Considering we've done a terrible job building around those lottery picks when they were healthy...
The AD era was fricked the second we gave Asik that contract.

What? No man, the AD era was fricked the second cousins tore his Achilles. That team could've gone to the wcf

Super happy for Jrue. If the Pels are out of contention I'm pretty much rooting for whatever team Jrue is on to win.
He's not a 1 or 2 on a championship team but he is clearly a guy that can be the missing piece/the guy that puts you over the edge.

Lol that was the last year of the AD era. Stop being so shortsighted.
If "we could've gone to the WCF" is what you're saying during the last year of said lottery pick's tenure, you fricked up.

So all the years before that when Eric Gordan, Jrue, Ryan Anderson were all injured had nothing to do with our organizational lack of success?

The Celtics had some pretty crappy injury luck with Isaiah Thomas, Gordon hayward, Robert williams, Malcolm Brogdon and now Porzingas. They also had pretty crappy situations with Irving and Udoka.
But they never stopped trying to improve. They used their assets to make intermittent gains. And they sure didn't sit on 10 1st round picks waiting in vain for the perfect trade to fall into their laps.

And don't forget that little detail of hitting on b2b top 3 picks in the draft.

Now you're putting Eric fricking Gordon and Ryan Anderson on a pedestal just because you can't handle the fact that we're not a well-run franchise.

It’s like a kick in the nuts but you’re happy for the guy at the same time. Weird feelings.

Oh bullshite, those guys were major pieces for us and you know they were. That's all I was trying to say. When you have a guy like AD you need shooters around him and those guys got hurt. The fricking asik contract was dumb but not some death sentence you're making it out to be.
Add tyreke Evans to the list too. The pels were fricking injured as frick and we never saw that core healthy. fricking ever. When they were AD was hurt. But hey frick us Pels suck.
Then when we do finally fricking hit and have a squad with jrue AD and Boogie he tears his fricking Achilles. It's awful injury luck. Then AD wants to bounce.
The pels made a lot of big swings with AD here and actually hit with the boogie trade then his Achilles popped. frick you for thinking the org is just run like shite. Every org makes bad moves. The fricking celtics did for years after that 08 title.

Is it just getting lucky when they’re in a way better city than ours? They don’t have to worry about losing their team due to the economics of the sport

He was always a wonderful third option.
Davis was always a wonderful 1A, Zion could be 1B.
Imagine having Zion, AD, and Jrue on the same team.
Add in Herb Jones and maybe Trey Murphy and that is a title contender.
