I would've given up on the Hornets with that.

This is what type of deals Demps was working with. That's why I'm not upset about this trade considering what we got. Solid trade.

Chris Pauls unwillingness to sign an extension with certain teams dictated where he would end up, and what that team was will to give for him

And how does that mean Odom won't throw a Chrissy fit and scare off trade partners he deems unsuitable? The same applies to both.

I think Demps got the best deal possible, WAY better than anyone could have expected.

Are you serious?

Maybe if our goal is to be a perennial 6th-8th seed.

The fact is our options were to rebuild or try and build around CP3. We tried Cp3, and it didn't work. How the frick do we rebuild with his? This is a team that isn't shitty enough to get a good pick and too bad to win a playoff series. The clips deal without gordon SHITS on this deal.

The only way New Orleans will join the thunder and Spurs as successful small market teams is to rebuild through the draft.

I'm on board with this trade as it is. I've always loved Kevin Martin and thought he was severely underrated as a player. If we can dump Odom and get someone like Iggy then I my hunt down Demps and kiss him on the lips.

People need to get the original Clippers and Warriors deal out of their thought process when evaluating this deal.

As soon as CP3 said he wasn't signing an extension with them, Curry and Gordon/Jordan,Minn 1st round pick was out the deal. The Clippers were offering a combo of Bledsoe, Aminu, and Mo Williams. You can't sit and say that trade would be better than this one.

I understand that we lost leverage when that little cocksucker pulled the rug out from under us. That doesn't make this a good trade, though. I'm not comparing it to any trade. I'm considering where it leaves the franchise, and I think we could end up still under shitty contracts when we were just working out from under them. We blew our chance to balance our roster through the draft and free agency.

Teams will be more willing to take a chance with Odom becuase they wont have to potentially destroy their future to aquire him

Im not so sure why this is hard to understand...

I don't see how.

You also fail to realize that the Hornets aren't done dealing.

Because it gives us a pick that will likely contribute or maybe even result in a franchise caliber player, unlike the pick we acquired in this deal.

It would give us young players who
1. Have room to improve
2. Don't carry nasty contracts.

And finally it would ensure we get are bad this year, which in the NBA is better than being mediocre.

Jesus dude.

My point is veterans teams are the ones competing for titles. In today's NBA, you aren't getting young guys and keeping them on a team long enough to win anything. All of the contenders are built through FA and trades. So the whole "this team is old" rant is bullshite. The Spurs are the only team who built their foundation through the draft.

Dallas
LAx2
Boston
Spurs
Heat
Spurs
Pistons
etc

All veteran laden teams. All the teams they beat were full of vets. It's obvious Demps wants to compete. And like people said, he isn't done yet.

Post the payroll's of those teams. We cant spend what LA, Boston, or Dallas can.

Small market teams HAVE TO BUILD THROUGH THE DRAFT.

There is no other option.

honest question, do you have season tickets?

would you go see the team play this year had we gotten that shite sandwich from LAC?

a bad season and you lose 30-40% of the season ticket base you worked so hard to get this year. Add 2 or 3 rebuilding years on top of that and it is not conducive to what this franchise is trying to do.

What is the franchise trying to do? It isn't competing for the title.

This deal fricking murders the hornets future, at the expense of a bad season.

This is probably the reality the Hornets are dealing with. Let the new owners rebuild if that's what they really want.
