If the season was over, how would you grade the Pels?

I would give a solid B. A- if we fire Gentry.
We obviously started playing much better in the second half of the season. The young guys look like they’re fitting together. One of the things that keeps it from being higher is the clutch time. We’ve got to get better at that. We wouldn’t have to worry about them shortening the season if we were better in the clutch.

Outside of the 13-game losing streak, it’s been a fun year. I don’t know if I’ve ever been so excited during a Pels season
B is fine

A+
This season was never about trying to win now. It was about seeing what the rooks can do and develop them, and also finding out who else currently on the team needs to stick around long term. I think they covered all of this this season, and will be ready for a run next season.
Being competitive and fighting for a playoff spot this late in the season was gravy.

Definitely an A.
- Ingram was an All Star and looks like the crunch time ISO scoring SF we've been missing for many years.
- Lonzo was much better than most of us expected after a very rough start.
- Josh Hart might be everyone's favorite Pelican.
- Jaxson Hayes is at least 1-2 years ahead of schedule since he got to play in the NBA instead of the GLeague as planned.
- Melli looked pretty useful once Zion returned.
- Zion averaged 28.5/8 per 36 minutes pretty much on sheer talent alone. And that talent was held back by the injury. When he's fully healthy and knows what he's doing...I believe the scientific term is "The League Is fricked"
The only negatives really are the losing while the team took time to come together, and we don't know for sure that Gentry will be moving on up to the front office. Yeah NAW looked bad, but he's a rookie that showed a ton of tools. He'll be a player than can impact the game even when his shot is off.

Given my expectations for a new squad, I'd give the team a B or B-(we lost a couple that we could have won). I think we have a solid nucleus, to build around going forward. They've got a season under their belts and will play better as a unit. It would have been nice for these guys to experience one playoff series, but such is life. I'll be very interested in offseason activity. Griff will have to be creative. I think he knows what he's doing.
The entire Association will have to re-set after the age of Corona.

Agreed on almost everything. I’d throw in as very minor negatives:
-injuries that plagued the first half of the season (though no major injuries is positive)
-Jrue’s inconsistency. Was hoping we’d see much more Evil Jrue, but he still has had a fine year
-Moore falling off the cliff and tanking any trade value he might have had
-Jackson and Okafor not taking another step.
All very small issues and, with the progression of Ingram and Lonzo plus how good Zion has been, I don’t think anyone can have major complaints. I think it really just comes down to expectations for the season for everyone. Before the year, I really wanted to see the young guys make the playoffs, but expected just to see us in the playoff hunt until the very end ala Sac last year. As much as it would suck to end the year now, I think the young guys learned a valuable lesson about how the lack preparation and focus in November and December can affect you in March and April. Hopefully this won’t be a problem next year

Good:
-Ingram is a stud
-Lonzo has finally played like everyone thought he would
-Zion is going to be the best scorer of all time if he develops any midrange game
-Role players are high quality (JJ, Hart, Melli)
Bad:
-Coaching
-Lack of fundamentals, mainly too many dumb turnovers and missed free throws
-Coaching
-Lack of defense, especially late in games
-Coaching
-Depth might actually be lacking. We can go 10 deep but Moore, Frank, NAW, and Hayes can be liabilities more than contributors at times
-Coaching
Neutral:
-Jrue is inconsistent, more so than ever
-Favors helps on the defensive end most nights, and gets some good offensive boards, but he is usually pointless on the offensive end and is only playing like 25 minutes a game
-W/L record. We should have won some we loss, and we stole a couple we probably shouldn't have won. Playoffs were lagniappe if we made (make?) them, just wanted us to be competitive which we were for a large portion of the season.

I would say it was a C+. This team is talented, but crunch time is a problem. I fully expect this group to figure out who the closer will be next year and make noise in the playoffs.

First 28 games (6-22): D-
Last 36 games (22-14): B
Can't give it an A b/c there's always room for improvement. But had we kept the pace we were at, which i'm sure we would have, then we would have played 2/3's of the year at a 50+ win pace.
If that doesn't make you excited about next year, on top of the fact that Zion will without a doubt get better, then you can turn in your fan card.
And if we have our patented slow start out of the gate, they better not hesitate to fire Alroy immediately, assuming they stick with him for next year, which i think they will even though i absolutely do not want to.

If we could hae just skipped to December, it'd be an A, but I'll go with a B-. 13 game streak was brutal, but seeing Zion in action was glorious

Tough start without Zion, but they wee still really flawed even when he returned. Especially on the defensive side.
That's to be expected though with a hella young team with a lot of new faces.

What’s their record with since Zion’s debut?

Really solid season, coming off the best player in our history blowing up the franchise. Only marred by a horrible 13 game stretch. I give it a B. A+ if we would've made the playoffs the season following trading AD.
A+ future.
